If this team didn't know the extent of hosmer's injury last week than we have the worst motherfucking medical staff in the world.

Even worse, if we knew how serious it was and made no corresponding move at the deadline then I am rough ridin' done.

Either scenario should be grounds for gutting the entire organization. I mean, along with all the other documented cases of incompetence.

Know what trade today really annoys me? Tommy Milone for Sam Fuld. Definitely wouldn't mind having Milone and you'd think Aoki has a pretty comparable value to Fuld.

I heard Danny or someone on 810 say this day and they were wrong too.

Fuld>>>Aoki

Lol, Aoki sucks but you're severely overrating Fuld if you think his value is that much higher. He was DFA'd by Oakland earlier this season. Throw in a low level prospect and the value is equal.

Though Beane would probably convince Moore Milone was worth Gordon+Almonte

Look.  You don't know baseball, but you seem like you may enjoy it.  So I will help you out here:

1) Yoenis Cespedes is valuable, but nearly as valuable as many others think, I would rather have Alex Gordon.
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/sam-fuld-and-completing-the-as/

2) Fuld/Vogt/Gomes is a pretty great platoon advantage.

Vogt vs R: .365/.919 OPS
Gomes vs L:  .302/.831 OPS

so they don't have Cespedes and his .303 OBP and .764 OPS out there, yes they are worse defensively but the offense is likely very close to Cespedes

but they also got back an elite defensive replacement in Sam Fuld to field in late innings for either guy or to add another lefty in the lineup if Vogt is DH'ing/RF or Catching.

3)  Milone is ok and yes it looks bad to trade a useful player for a guy you DFA'd earlier, but Milone asked for a trade after essentially losing his rotation spot.

Don't forgetthe overall picture is this:

OAK Loses
Prospects:
Addison Russell/SS/AA/2014 #7 BA Prospect
Billy McKinney/LHP/A+/2013 1st Rd Pick (HS)
Draft Pick

Major Leaguers:
Tommy Milone LHP (2018 FA)
Dan Straily RHP (2019 FA)

OAK Gets
Jeff Samardzija RHP (2016 FA)
Jason Hammel RHP (2015 FA)
Jon Lester LHP (2015 FA)
Jonny Gomes LF (2015 FA)
Sam Fuld (2015 FA)

So yeah, it was absolutely a "win now" trade.  But Tommy Milone is your objection?  Gmafb.  They got something of value back that helps them now.  He is absolutely more valuable than Almonte, especially to the A's given the context.

Stress fractures can't be seen on images for a few weeks.  Slight rest brought the inflammation and pain down to a tolerable level, probably got more images knowing it wouldn't show anything either way conclusively.  Let him play because it wouldn't create further damage besides more inflammation and pain, then images finally showed the stress.  Not med teams fault.

hey joda.  I think I may have forgot what you said by the time I finished writing my post.

I think so, absolutely nothing wrong with anything Oakland has done in the last month. I think that The Royals very easily could have acquired Milone and could have made a better deal than Sam Fuld. The Gordon+Almonte thing was pointing out that Dayton is a moron who Beane has fleeced in the past and probably will again.

Flanagan just tweeted that the Royals are considering having Hos and Vargas "trade places" on the DL. In other words, we'd play with 24 guys until Sunday when Vargas is scheduled to come off the DL, and at that point Vargas makes 25. Problem: that scenario leaves KC with three bench guys. Flanagan says that's unlikely...but Genius Dayton is at the controls. Who knows what he'll do?

Flanagan has followed up his last tweet by saying Dayton needs to get "creative."  Dayton has no creativity.

that's not true WildcatNkilt, we are spending quite a bit this year. Dayton has done a very good job building this team. if there's a problem, it's the philosophy of hitting approach, and i'm just not sure where that comes from.
