That's fair. I've liked some of them. Getting Trent Green was the right move. Not putting any $ into the defense was a bad move.

getting trent absolutely was NOT the right move. the 1st rd pick that we traded to st. louis for trent, we would have used a month later on drew brees.

drew himself said the chiefs were showing the most interest in him before trading for trent.

fanning. you are being very small minded in this thread. you and the majority of chiefs fans/the front office have never had the guts to dare to be GREAT. you (and joda echoed something similar) want to build a team by first building a great defense, and a great coaching staff, a strong running game and then acquiring a decent qb.

it's already been done. right here. in kc. for like a decade. the marty-led chiefs were exactly that.

great defense? check.
great coaching staff? check.
decent qb? (kreig, montana, bono, grbac) check, check, check, check.

that formula produced a grand total of 2 playoff wins. 2. it produced a hall of fame lb, an all-pro defensive end. several pro bowl corners and safety's and dt's, great seasons out of running backs. and it couldn't get it done on the big stage.

stop. just stop. for the love of god, please stop.

Bro, I love watching the Chiefs. I'm afraid if I focused on the negative as much as you, it would be tough to enjoy. They make me happy and make Sunday hangovers better. I'm sorry. The Chiefs and the qatz complete me. :)

The '90s Chiefs played in a different NFL than the one now. That NFL you absolutely needed to go out and build your franchise around a QB and the Chiefs never did that. Now a franchise QB demands so much money you're left with holes all around your roster. The Chiefs in the 90s where built much the same way SF and Seattle are built now, they just never went and got a Russell Wilson of Collin Kaepernick.

When you go the route of building a great team and then acquiring a great QB to lead them, you end up with issues having to keep that great team together, then the mediocre journeyman QB you find has a 3-4 year window at best. How long is the window for the Colts to win a Super Bowl right now?

Not sure. They barely won one with Peyton rough ridin' Manning.

It depends on if Luck develops into a true elite QB. If he does 10-15 years, if he doesn't 3-5 until he gets an enormous contract that causes the roster around him to degrade unless they draft ridiculously well.

The QB contract is bloated talking point is so true, Joda. It really can EFF some teams. Like the bears for one.

that's because peyton is a shitty postseason qb.

the point is, every year they had a shot. they were in the playoffs with a super bowl caliber team (losing to brady and the pats more likely than not, but they were there).

The Chiefs in the 90's were in the playoffs like every year. They had a shot almost every year too. I don't even know what you're trying to get at anymore.  :Ugh:

Was that the year that Gannon took the Chiefs to the best record in football, only to be benched by Marty for the playoff game against Denver?

j-dub, I know you're sad these days, but you should try to enjoy sports more. You're kind of depressing and it's kind of sad. The Chiefs made the playoffs 7/10 years in the 90's. That was a lot of fun and I won't let your butthurt for all things KC get to me.  :nono:

nope. year before.

the chiefs went a very pedestrian 9-7.

denver won the division with a 13-3 record. cuz, ya know, elway.

green bay beat the pats in the super bowl.
