4-Star Recruits: Why can't we keep them?
« on: January 07, 2015, 11:48:42 PM »
Our only promising non-three star recruits in the past couple of years:

Clinckscales
Derricott
Ramirez
M. Clark

All gone. Why does this happen? It's so frustrating to be excited all off-season for these guys just to see them never play and leave halfway through the season. Tanner Wood was another one I don't see on the field ever.

Clink isn't gone and neither is Dericott. Our starting running back was a 4 star also, as well as Tanner Wood. But please, go on.

who needs 4 stars when you've got 5 hearts?

We take chances on a lot of 4 stars that may not qualify elsewhere...  This means that they usually don't put the effort in the class room, which translates to not putting in the effort on the field.  A 5* 1 heart player will never see the field for us.

Good solid walk-ons and DITR's is what moves the needle with the majority of the K-State fanbase.

They latch on to those "family" and "red shirt" stories like a tick to a dog.

Do you even watch the games?  Wood has played quite a bit on special teams and I remember seeing him get meaningful snaps in the Alamo Bowl.

Get a hold of yourself, MFW.  It will be okay; we're all in this together.

This.  K-State (Snyder) probably cares less than just about any other program in the country about recruiting rankings coming into CFB.  Some programs play their 4 or 5* players just because they spent a lot of effort recruiting them.  Snyder doesn't GAF; whoever looks best in practice that week will play.

Teams play their high ranking busts because they spent time and effort recruiting them?

It's always hard breaking down rollingplains posts. I know he's trying to say something, but I can never make it out. I can definitely feel the rage he has for us tho.  :frown:

It's kinda cute tho, tbh... They keep telling themselves that things will take a dive when HOFCBS retires.  They fail to realize, however, that we'll have no trouble finding a great successor willing to take the keys to the new $70MM Vanier Complex that will be not only the top facility in the Big XII, but one of the top 3-4 in the nation.

Because they spend the time and effort they have a hard time believing / don't want to admit that they have players better than those guys at the position.  They think every game is when the kid will turn it around and prove he's better than the 2*s and walk-ons.

Mind you, I'm not talking about the best programs in the country.  Their coaches are a little smarter than that, plus they tend to have almost nothing but 4/5* players...
