I enjoyed Prometheus more than most of the others in the series.  Fassbender's character was especially good and I liked how it left things a bit open-ended.

Coco: Liked it!

30 minute Frozen Holdiay Special before Coco: Sucked.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

You're not alone on that one.

If you think the bad Frozen short is going to dampen your Coco experience, skip it. Slate calculated that your best bet is to arrive about 37 minutes after your designated showing time to avoid the movie trailers, the Olaf show and the minute-ish clip in which Coco co-directors Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina talk about how proud they are of the film.

Highlander (1986) - 3/7, some cool cinematography and a fantastic soundtrack (by Queen) but otherwise laughably bad, but like not quite bad enough to be laughably good imo

Finding Neverland (2004) - 4/7, pretty much saving mr banks but with peter pan instead of mary poppins, and not as good or emotionally wrenching. but kate winslet is still bitb.

The Birth of a Nation (2016) - 6/7, almost scene for scene ripoff of Braveheart, which is a great movie, so it's no surprise this is also a great movie.

Highlander: The Quickening is the gem of that franchise.

I watched The Room this weekend.  Wow.

Saw the new Star Wars, Last Jedi, this morning.  It was good, but not great.  If someone wasn't a huge fan of the series, they probably would not like it.  I had heard that it was being reviewed as "too long," and thought to myself "there is no such thing as too many space ships," but it really was a little too long.  And they forced too many jokes.

Overall, I am glad they made it, and I was happy to watch it.

Yeah it was fine. Also not a huge SW fan. Agree on the jokes thing, its like they asked Joss Whedon to write part of the script. Also, that ridiculous moment with Leia early in the movie...wtf was that. Honestly, your review is basically 100% what I was thinking.

Relatively spoiler free review of Star Wars....

The entire portion of the movie that involved purple-haired Laura Dern, which was way too much, was awful. If they had excised that portion of the movie (and that whole bizarre casino sidetrip, which just didn't feel like it belonged), it would have been far better. And shorter. This is the first Star Wars movie that I thought was too long and downright boring at times (I don't count the Lucas-trash prequels).

Thankfully, the movie redeemed itself with an entertaining and even exciting third act. Really enjoyed that.

One final note, I didn't mind the jokes. But I'm not a huge fan of how these new installments blatantly copy from the first trilogy. It's feels a little over-the-top.

The humor was really great. But despite that, the movie was less fun than The Force Awakens

I don't understand why you people are being nice to this movie. It was a rough ridin' horrendous unending shitbortion asstrocity.

I am exhausted from 2.5 hours of continuous cringing and snorting with derision.

I think if you had taken a 45 minute bathroom break during the Laura Dern / casino nonsense, you might feel differently. I admit, it's hard to get that taste out of your mouth, but the third act was a good chaser.

This was my impression. I still enjoyed it very much. I'm planning to see it again Wednesday or Thursday, maybe that will change my impression.

I didn't have a problem with Laura Dern herself. I thought the entire plotline involving Laura Dern sucked. I'm not going to get into spoilers but I think you all know what I'm talking about. It wasn't just the bizarrely out of place casino jaunt. If they had found a way to excise that stuff completely, it would have been a far better movie.

i can't wait to see the Death of Stalin.
in my mind's eye it's a bunch of legendary character actors/comedians blistering through a 2 hour episode of Soviet Veep
