The Witch, unintentionally an exploration of Calvinist theology.
Additionally, a showcase of the real existence of evil.
And when I say real, I don't mean it in a cowardly, sometimes people just do bad things, way.

i watched The Witch last night, it was exceptional. i don't think i've seen anything quite like it. is it a horror movie? no. is it extremely unsettling? yes, the entire time. i read that the filmmaker said he was trying to make an honest depiction of what a 17th century Puritan's nightmares might look like. also some nods to Goya.
7/7

Babysitter horror movies of 2017 reviews:

Babysitter (on Netflix)  :star: :star: :star: :star: :raccoon: :raccoon: :raccoon: - Didn't take itself seriously and was over the top with the horror.  Very enjoyable popcorn movie, bloody but not actually scary.

Better Watch Out  :star: :star: :star: :raccoon: :raccoon: - Was a little more serious than Babysitter.  I am a fan of horror movies and particularly Christmas horror so I really enjoyed it.  A good movie for anyone but definitely worth seeing for fans of the genre.

Rise of the Warrior Apes is an Animal Planet documentary about the largest community of chimpanzees ever discovered.

It's the culmination of 23 years of observation and video recording. The cinematography is often breathtaking, while the stories are supremely interesting. It may be the best nature documentary I've ever watched.

I believe it's only available on Animal Planet GO.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Why him?.

Started off really slow but as the movie progressed I liked it more and more.  Had a lot of good moments and even though it has an extremely low rotten tomatoes and IMDb score, it’s a pretty good movie.

Tried watching Independence Day: Resurgence. Got about 10 minutes in. What a piece of crap.

Caught most of The Other Side of Door a few nights ago. I don't generally enjoy horror movies but I gotta say it was very creepy and a well put together film.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

WOW, Spiderman: Homecoming was fantastic!  It's the only Spiderman movie to get right what it would actually be like if a 15 year old had super spider powers.  It was perfect.  Mrs. 33 said it was her favorite superhero movie EVER.   :sdeek:

Geostorm was great. The most predictable, contrived, cheesy, implausible movie since Independence Day 2. The only believable thing was that in 5 years we are going to have a democrat as president.

Watched the Poltergeist remake. Meh. I like Sam Rockwell, but they didn't need to remake that movie. The original with Craig T Nelson was simply better.
