Why are we worried about taxes anyways?  The stock market is rising so gov't will be just fine!

Dear Poors,

The child tax credit phases out way before you get to the 35% marginal bracket.

Seriously boys, if we're going to have medicare and some shitty stipend on top of our ginormous retirement income, we need to crank out lots of kids to fund the system (and make sure they work).  Each is insolvent by their own estimate in the next 20 years.

Perhaps the child credit should phase in at certain AGI's. We know the poors and their offspring arent working. #foodforthought #libtardtroll

The idea that we need to subsidize procreation is ridiculous. Don't have kids if you can't afford them. No tax breaks for parents.

Thank you for summarizing the GOP's thoughts on why we should increase the child tax credit.

I like tax breaks for parents. Taxes really shouldn't be too much of a burden for anyone and kids are expensive enough that without those breaks, lower income families would probably struggle.

To be fair, truly low income families generally do not pay taxes as is. So tax credits do nothing for them. These policies have the most impact on middle class families, who can afford to have 1-2 kids and are certainly free (but should not be encouraged) to have more. I would, however, be in favor of a substantial adoption tax credit.

Can someone explain how a guy that works the same job as me, also rents, and contributes to society at the same level gets 12k back on his taxes compared to my 200? Both us of having the absolute minimum taken out of our checks.

How is being married, in a single income home, with three kids worth 12k?

If that's the rationale, then their kids should pay directly for their care.

This isn't something that seriously upsets me. I live a great life and can afford to do most anything I want to do. It's something that makes no sense to me.

if you divide his income amongst his 5 component beings then you will see that per capita his family makes 1/5 what you do

It's in any state's self interest to have future citizens. Providing incentives for that makes perfect sense.
