This will probably need to be added to the history.  I didn't hear it on 810, but it sounds like opposing players are on to the moniker, this is the first time I've heard of it mentioned.

Quote
J.T. (Tiller) was on 810 this morning. Sharp kid. Anyway, they ask him if there was anywhere he just hated to play, Lubbock, Allen, Etc. He says "Manhattan, Kansas. It is like a dungeon there, dark, can't see, The Octagon of Doom." Isn't it great to hear other players saying they don't want to play in our place! He mentioned the Octagon of Doom more than once.

Should be on their podcast thing tomorrow.  :dunno:

I just looked and it already is, but I can't listen for a while.

http://www.810whb.com/podcasts

About 28min in.  Sounds like we intimidated him pretty badly

Very nice.  Should send him a shirt.

Wallace!

Ryan Wallace ?@call_me_WALLACE  4m
So, let KU call Bramlage "Allen Fieldhouse West". Just remind them that since Huggy arrived, no B12 road venue has handed them more losses.

Ryan Wallace ?@call_me_WALLACE  3m
For statistical background- Entering this year, KU at: ISU 6-1, OU 4-1, BAY 4-1, TEX 3-1, TT 3-2, OSU 2-2, KSU 5-3. So no, this isn't #AFHW

Good points. In the last 7 meetings in the OOD the Cats have outscored KU 514-509.

To take our home court advantage to a national level we need a catchier nickname than the Octagon of Doom. Like it or not that's one reason why KU gets so much love because they have a nickname that the media loves to say and talk about.

We have Fort Snyder for football, but we need a better name for basketball. One that either has strong ties to our history, plays off the fact that we're the wildcats or has some tie to Fort Riley.

I'm not saying The Den is the perfect name, but I do love the definition.
