Banff
Cape Breton
Jasper
Vancouver/Gulf Islands

Any of you or your Canadian friends ever been to any of these locales? Peggy po's, nancy neg's? Other locations (in Canada) I should consider? Looking for general vibe to be outdoor-sy and chill.

Paris is not beautiful. Filthy. Full of rude people. Toronto has great theatre.

I drove through Montreal last year on an afternoon jaunt up from Plattsburgh, NY. Next time I will plan better.
I had no map, no Canadian $, no cell service, and no French-reading abilities. Pretty much drove up, admired the views, walked around, and after a while somehow managed to find the correct highway back to NY. It's a beautiful city OKCat. Geographically it's laid out similar to Jacksonville, with a peninsula-like main downtown area, surrounded by very high-clearance bridges. That's where the comparos stop though.

I went to Winnipeg once in May and it was kind of a dump.

I documented the endeavor here:

Parisians are only rude to fat Americans in jeans and tennis shoes that are upset that they don't speak English.

Not true. They also really don't like brown people. And I speak French. (And I'm not fat. I probably did wear jeans and tennis shoes at some point while in Paris, however.)

Please do.

Ok I'll give it the full run down later this evening.

List of things I recommend

1. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
2. Granville Island Market area
3. Grouse mountain
4. Vancouver Aquarium
5.  Robson St Shopping District
6. Jericho Beach
7. Stanley Park
8 harbor dinner cruise

I stayed with family so I don't have any hotel thoughts.  It is very easy and inexpensive to get around as public transportation is very good and much of the city is walkable. Robson street had great shopping and food, downtown has several upscale places to eat, the Stanley park area with the harbor and aquarium can be an entire days worth if you like to explore. the dinner cruise around the harbor gives you a view of the entire city from several vantage points at sunset, you will likely see dolphins.  Granville Market is kind of a hike depending on where you stay but it is this great open market with fresh caught fish and other seafood along with local shops.

I would also recommend visiting the University's museum.  When I went it was nearing sundown and when I walked out to where the totem poles are the whole place had this surreal feeling to it.  It was almost like a religious experience very peaceful and calming.
