And Leavitt as interim would have been great for K-State football and great for Bill IMO. He looks dumb now going out and that is sad to me.

A HCIW made a ton of sense for the situation. Was the best argument in favor of the entire deal.

Honestly, I'm getting more pissed the more I think about it. We'd be moving forward right now. Now we continue to stagnate. Bill may set the program back worse than the last time he retired.

Would any coach be worse at handling a HCIW than Bill?

Normally no, but this year with his health I don't think it would be as bad.

I think Bill's restricting of his assistants from talking to the press would be a lot more infuriating if we had a HCIW that we all knew was basically coaching the team in Bill's place.

My only problem with the HCIW scenario is that I'd like a staff overhaul and I think taking over after being HCIW makes that harder to do.

The merit to HCIW isn't to lock down Leavitt, but to appear to have a plan and hopefully improve recruiting.  Agree that it would make necessary staff changes harder.

See, I would assume Bill wouldn't be giving up any control at all.

The idea that Bill rejected a good DC and hurt the program simply because he can’t accept Sean just being on staff rather than HC is infuriating. Seemed like positive outcome for everyone (except Bill I guess)

My perception is that Bill loses a bunch of control as a result of this becoming public.

I agree, this was the worst possible scenario for Bill. Yeah, there are all plenty of "Bill can do no wrong" fans, but they aren't the majority.

Has Sean been offered any other coaching gigs outside of Manhattan during Snyder 2.0?

I heard Florida got rid of McElwain after only 2.5 seasons so they could have a shot at getting Sean Snyder.

I have no idea why Barnett even gets mentioned. If we wanted a rape enabler, Art Briles is a much better coach.

That and he hasn't coached in 12 years.

A friend of mine who is an Arkansas grad and fan said this about Bielema.

Quote
I’m a little torn. I actually like him personally and think he has a good vision for building a program. However, I think he is an average recruiter, though may fare better in Big 12 given his ties to program and fact that Alabama, Auburn, LSU et al suck all of the oxygen in recruiting. My biggest knock has been his inability to make in-game adjustments, prepare his guys to play on Saturday, and develop the players he does get.

Well that's a ringing endorsement.  can't get the most out of his players and doesn't adjust. Where do I sign up?

He also reeks of desperation.  Dude lobbied hard for the KU job after Charlie.

Sean it is!

FWIW, Beilema's lowest recruiting class during his time at arkansas was 28th.

Final nail, he'll have zero external support to stay. I know I've said before that Taylor wouldn't have the clout to force Snyder to fire Dana and Hayes, I think this changes that.
