KU tailgates are similar.  Held in back yards of nearby slum housing.  My buddy actually bought a slum house on Kentucky St. in Lawrence that has a clause in the lease that he gets the entire backyard on home football game days.  His friends pay him $$ to set up a tailgate.  The yard has a fence, but he hasn't tarped it off to keep everyone from seeing what's going on at the tailgate.

I like a nice quiet tailgate with a comfortable chair and a cooler close by. yeah that looks miserable
