here's some Xs and Os for you HFBIQ'ers. my HS had a pretty complex system. 22 dive? well here's the thing, not as simple as it sounds. in that play we run dive (basically just blast ahead for tons of yards) by handing to the fullback (2 dude) and he runs through the first hole to the right of the center (2 hole). most of my team was super intelligent at sports so we picked this stuff up after a few weeks of practice.

this play sounds like it uses up all 8 guys, very hfbiq iyam

8 man football is a thinking man's game. The Xs and Os of it flies right over the head of the average surburbanite.

Keep it simple: Right 45 trap on two.

Who do you drop in 8 man?

For offense, "basically" both offensive tackles and a slot receiver. Defense can vary quite a bit; outside LB, DL, S, depending on scheme/alignment.

How many players can be an eligible receiver in 8 man?

There are plenty of variations on offense too. You can run doubles with 4 WR with an empty backfield. If you are 2 back, you can have 2 tights, a tight and a split, or 2 splits. You can have twins with a tight and 1 back.

How many players can be an eligible receiver in 8 man?

The 2 players at the end of the line (like 11 man) and the 2 in the backfield, so you lose 1 eligible receiver.

Yeah, I got it. I should have phrased the question better. I didn't know if it's 2 lineman and a skill or what

I put this together at the end of last year, the last row has Ertz's projections based on average improvements for all the other Snyder QBs.

FYI, Jesse is now on pace to nearly double his projected numbers for passing yards.

Fun fact Walt Alexander (Huge Cat's fan / Stud Coach at Topeka High) was my High School coach back in the Mid 90's. We played 8 man football and had a set called " The Nike Air" (original ASF name) we had 3 down linemen with a T.E split out 5 yards, Qb and R.b back in shotgun and the w.r's spread out to the sidelines.  I believe we only passed out of this formation a handful of times but It was usually a Power Qb run game or some Option game. It's crazy to think 20 years ago we were ahead of the trend with spread offenses at the 8 man Level.

Yes, its a great concept. It uses power/stretch read concepts (pulling guard), but without running the QB so Smith doesn't get killed or take hits. I think most NFL teams have discovered running your QB on a regular basis in spread option stuff isn't a good idea. I love Reid's creativity on offense with the various parts he has to work with.

Love watching those plays. Our high school runs a wing T. Lot of motion and misdirection. Great when the guards can block. Not so much when they're getting blown into the backfield.

I watched (and announced) 8-man games for 9 years when out west.  Kind of miss the game.  Did some amazing stuff (and also saw the most vicious hits I have ever seen in the HS game at that level due to the speed nature of the game).

Anyone ever involved in 6-man football?  I know it was played by a few schools in NWK (played in either a CO or NE league) not too long ago.  My guess it would be some serious hfbiq stuff.

Dad played 6 man in the 50's.  The Berryton Buffaloes only loss in  53 came against Lecompton. His coach was Jerry Reichert who officiated my high school games and worked for Assays sporting goods in Topeka.
