... but Bill's teams come out flat at times, and that is never gonna happen against KSU so long as Weber is still there.

It's never happened before he was here.  Don't be stupid.  Self doesn't give a eff about Weber.  Why should he?

I would pick KU to win if they lost all 13 scholarship players.  Without seeing their recruiting class.

hoiball is the funnest bball.  isu fans are so lucky.

Yeah.  Its really enjoyable.

Pretty sure I owe the Fatty fund something.  I said i would match somebody (fanning?) on a handful of milestone donations.  I think one was Cats winning the big 12.  I can't find the thread though.  Don't want to Welsh....Anyone recall this?   :dunno:

this list was based purely on ability to win basketball games and recruit talent.

It this is the case and you are looking what they will do in the future

1. Self - alone at the top

2. Drew  -both young guys that have proven they can recruit and should get better at the in game stuff
3. Ford

4. Barnes
5. Huggins -looks like their best days are behind them
6. Kruger

7. Hoiberg  -Doesn't recruit well enough to go with Drew or Ford, doesn't have the track record of the Over the Hill gang  and will be a perennial bubble team just like ISU has been for 30 years

8. Weber - Only bubble quality teams with his own recruits, early recruiting suggests that will not change  :frown:

9. Walker - Not sure he will even have a job next week

10. Johnson - Grabbing one more HM paycheck

Ford in the top 3? Did you miss "ability to win games" in that post you quoted?

Also these lists are :opcat: my dude Chris Walker owns cHuggins

It was the worst MIR.  He was all over the place in his reasoning.  Basically, if you were over 50 he only took into account what happened this year, unless it was Weber, then it was all about the past 5 years.  If you were under 50, it was about your rivals ratings on recruits in the last couple years; on court results are completely irrelevant.  Hoiberg was assed out because he recruits too many transfers (thus no rivals stars) and winning is irrelevant.  He sort of mentioned that Ford and Drew completely miss the tournament every other year, but that doesn't matter cause they always get 5 stars.   Kruger, Barnes and Huggins are old, so they suck. Doesn't care that they have like 2000 wins between them.  Old=suck.   :flush:

truth about oscar Weber:
1. If given a good roster, he can win championships at the high major level
2. He can build a championship mid major team
3. He has yet to build a high major team capable of winning championship

He'll either get #3 figured out, or he won't, but I don't really buy into the "Forrest Gump" theory that he's a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!), bumbling about and falling assbackward into fame and fortune.  I mean, if you win 5 conference championships at 3 different schools in 15 years as a coach, you're probably doing something right.  History says he'll probably have some disasterous seasons in the future, but by the same token, I don't think he's won his last title.  Just hope it's more of the latter at KSU :dunno:

Meh...it's his fifth.  Pretty much gets one every few years now.   :users:

I love the BCS bowl talking point.

yeah.  The year we won the Fiesta bowl was like our 5th best season.   :users:

kenpom says +7

Odds of winning per kenpom?  KUs odds?

Bread/Clams interaction has become one of my favs.  It's like Lemon and Mathau when they mix it up.

37
Curious what the odds are.  The only scenario that we don't win, is if KU beats Baylor and we lose to Okie Lite.  I realize that is probably the most likely scenario, but do the other 3 scenarios  (both lose, both win, we win they lose) add up to more than 50%?  Is it more likely than not we win the Big 12?   :dunno:

38
All the white midwesterners had Oakleys like that when I was in high school

I never had those ugly things, so you must've gone to high school before 1975, or sometime in the future after I'm dead.

39
If oscar wins the big 12 this year, it'll be his 5th conference title in 15 years as a d1 head coach.  Just asking the question: how many conference titles do you expect Frank to win in his career?  How many will oscar win?   :dunno:

What a lazy statement

Lowery is a defensive guru. He convinces players to pressure the ball without getting beat to the basket. His ways have clearly rubbed off. The Wildcats lead the Big 12 in scoring defense, allowing 59.7 points.

I hate "regular" stats.

I've grown so accustomed to adv stats, that I forget that most people are still stupid.  Like most people (Kellis in this article for one) think K-State is a great defensive team and a mediocre offensive team.  Mindblowing.

well, this is the 2014 thread :dunno:

To be honest, I had no idea where to put those guys. I'm still not sure.

This is the right thread I think.  I'd be suprised if we take them both.

Somebody PM me if that "sexton" post is ever topped.  As far as I'm concerned there's no need to ever read this thread again.  Everything else will disappoint incomparison.  :users:

Wood was a former Rivals 150 (class of 12) and St John's commit.  Couldn't make grades so he went JUCO.  Is redshirting this year, so He'll have three to play three after next season.

Allen was more of  late bloomer who I think is boosting his stock by going JUCO.  Not sure of his qualifying status out of HS.  Leading a good Hutch JUCO team in scoring.

Both are long off guards.

Thanks MIR.  Also, bump since it wasn't pinned.

no way Foster could run point like Smart either.  I don't see it anyway.

I would not have guessed that the fighting breads were dead last in the conference at getting to the free throw line.  My word.  Everything else jives with what my eyes have seen.

It is interesting how similar the Breads are to the Bruces, except for offensive eFG%.

Very interesting.
