Kansas State Football / Utah is weird
« on: September 07, 2023, 02:20:12 PM »
We took up a lot of space in the cigars thread talking about Utah fans. I think we're definitely going to need a master Utah thread, they seem to be uniquely shitty fans. Instead of using the cigars thread to point out all of the weird and shitty things they say and do, I'm going to start one here.

Homeboy thinks an hbcu is a juco.

Also looking at the twitter accounts of these three podcasters Utah fans are still firmly convinced that the Big 12 is going to be easy and they'll cakewalk through. I hope Baylor beats their asses, of course they won't but I'm gonna hope like hell it happens.

I'm surprised there's only one post on this board about him. He was not a good analyst, at all, and I rode him pretty hard on twitter. This is super shitty. I feel horrible.

Kansas State Football / The Machine
« on: December 03, 2022, 07:49:38 PM »
Waaaaayyyyyyy overdue for Austin Moore to have his own thread, but my goodness, the machine has been amazing all season and he saved his best for when it mattered most.

And what a dreamboat, right?

He should be preseason DPOY, he won't be, but he should.

I feel like there should bea separate thread dissecting oscar's last press conference. I thought he came across as more bitter than he did at the Big 12 Press Conference. His redass has always been overrated.

He didn't thank Gene, he thanked the other 3 ADs and UPs he worked for. It's obvious Gene asked him to retire and oscar's wife said, eff naw homie.

Come for the bad basketball, stay for the lol as seen on tv products. The Mizzou Iowa State game proceeding our game just had this classic

This is going to be sloppy and sleepy :blank:

Good first half offensively, they look great without Mike. Mark and Marquis are dominating. Bigs are silent. Nijel looks understandably slow. Luke is not a power conference basketball player.

This is a couple of weeks old but this ProPublica piece about the uber rich in this country and how little they pay in taxes should have been all over the news, it was largely ignored, I have to think due to the overwhelming corporate ownership of news outlets.

https://www.propublica.org/article/the-secret-irs-files-trove-of-never-before-seen-records-reveal-how-the-wealthiest-avoid-income-tax

Quote
No one among the 25 wealthiest avoided as much tax as Buffett, the grandfatherly centibillionaire. That’s perhaps surprising, given his public stance as an advocate of higher taxes for the rich. According to Forbes, his riches rose $24.3 billion between 2014 and 2018. Over those years, the data shows, Buffett reported paying $23.7 million in taxes.
That works out to a true tax rate of 0.1%, or less than 10 cents for every $100 he added to his wealth.

Quote
A spokesman for Soros said in a statement: “Between 2016 and 2018 George Soros lost money on his investments, therefore he did not owe federal income taxes in those years. Mr. Soros has long supported higher taxes for wealthy Americans.”

Quote
Our analysis of tax data for the 25 richest Americans quantifies just how unfair the system has become.

By the end of 2018, the 25 were worth $1.1 trillion.

For comparison, it would take 14.3 million ordinary American wage earners put together to equal that same amount of wealth.

The personal federal tax bill for the top 25 in 2018: $1.9 billion.

The bill for the wage earners: $143 billion.

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / UT post game discussion
« on: January 16, 2021, 09:32:21 PM »
I really think this team would be performing better without oscar and Mike McBuckets. Mike just turns the ball over way too much and he takes really bad shots. I don't know that he's a better shooter than Dajuan. Good to finally see Luke play, wish he would have nice if he could have gotten involved in the offense.

That was a pretty incredible bad beat/backdoor cover.

I once again was encouraged by this loss. I just hope these dudes don't become losers, it's a tough way to break into college basketball.

I feel bad for this team, these young guys deserve better than having 7 or 8 available players each game. We had a walk on play more minutes than the best two players combined.

Dajuan-Solid game, this dude would be a great glue guy if we can get some talent around him. His double doubles are impressive
Petrakis- Good work kid! Offensively he's a D1 player in a slow tempo offense like ours, defensively he's super bad, like looks like he would have even been a questionable defender in high school. Good effort nonetheless.
McGuirl-We have to rely on him for offense far too much, even with that said, I think he forces too much. I'm glad he pushed the issue a bit, but I'd think he would have a better idea about shot selection. He should be a bench option, but he isn't and that's why we are what we are.
Selton- :barf: love this dudes effort, but what in the world? Will he ever develop consistency and be an all-conference level player or is this what he's going to be. That was brutal
Rudy- Probably out of shape, started great, vanished in the second half, 40 minutes is a LOT for him.
Davion-His mere presence changes the team and games, he's going to be damn near unstoppable when he learns to play without fouling.
Linguard-He's limited when he's not injured, props for giving it a go today, but he had no business on the court today. I hope his back wasn't aggravated.

Gotta get guys back and hope confidence doesn't get sapped from them because the talent is there.

If there are multiple threads marked as unread, I have the new button disappearing on some of these threads even if I don't click those threads. This has been happening for a month or two. I thought it was an issue with my cell phone, but it's doing it on my laptop too.

Rested, refreshed and back on the court after getting some home cooking, the wildkittens are going to be in ultra DOB and long ball 3 mode tonight! Get some bitches

More shocking, that there's a bowl game in an hour and a half or that we have a basketball game in 45 minutes?

I'm kicking this bitch off 7 hours early because we're going to win tonight, watch.

Kansas State Football / So...LSU

A lot of people on this board and around the Big 12 got real loud about Baylor, someone is going to need to tell me how this is different, other than the fact that all people involved at LSU won't get fired like they did at Baylor.

This is gross

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / Wichita Republicans raising the bar
« on: October 27, 2020, 09:00:14 PM »
This is long, I worked hard on it, please read it.

I can't believe this hasn't come up yet, our Wichita contingency is at an all time low. This probably should go in the applause for Kansas or the Republicans being pieces of crap thread but honestly, the depravity showed here deserves its own unique place in history. This is what happens when three Aaron Coleman's get elected.

So here's the story. There was a Wichita mayoral election last year. The incumbent mayor was a republican. There were three Wichita officials; one city councilman, one county commissioner, and one state representative, who conspired to make an ad against the democrat running for mayor. The ad was called Protect Wichita Girls and it was paid for by Protect Wichita Girls LLC. The ad had women make allegations of sexual harassment against the democratic candidate. The only problem was that the exact allegations in the ad were made against a republican state senator two years earlier. The ad was almost immediately debunked, it blew up in the republicans faces, and they lost the mayoral race.

The newly elected mayor, Brandon Whipple, found who shot and produced the ad and sued him. Well this dude is just some poor schlub and we wanted no part of the lawsuit so he told the attorneys and the media who paid for the ad and who gave him the script and told him what to shoot. You guessed it, the the stooges. After it seemed like these idiots, along with a gentleman named Dalton Glasscock, a 25 year old, first openly gay chairman of the Sedgwick County Republican Party, were on the brink of being caught, the stooges tried to frame Glasscock to take the fall, solely. Well the idiots were in the presence of the videographer and he recorded them. The recording has them talking about the ad, about the scheme to frame Glasscock, and amongst other things, one of them Michael O'Donnell, the biggest piece of crap of them all, saying that he wasn't regretful that George Tiller got shot, but he was glad that he wasn't the person to shoot him.

There are also other things that are definitely going to come to light with this lawsuit, for example O'Donnell buying and serving alcohol to Glasscock and his buddies in Glasscock's frat at Wichita State when some of them were underage. Or the hundreds of dollars O'Donnell paid to Glasscock and others for "election services."

This is absolutely going to become a Bad Principal type of movie one day. If you are familiar with O'Donnell this is sending up a billion red flags, if you are not it's probably sending up millions of them.

BTW, O'Donnell is the only one up for re-election next week. He's running against a woman named Sarah Lopez and conveniently enough, as the mayoral ad scandal was getting legs O'Donnell made a since proven false claim against her stating she doesn't live in the district.

If you want to read up on and listen to this, and I think it's worth your time, here are some links.

The first link is from the Garden City Telegram detailing O'Donnell plowing these frat guys with food, drinks, and money. He got caught because of a Snapchat photo taken at a trump rally in '16. Looked pretty stupid at the time, looks like something different today.

The rest of these are simply about the video and the following scandal, in order of when they happened, dating back to October of last year.

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / 10/22 debate thread

Has there ever, in the history of American debates, been anyone else lie in the very first sentence of a debate?

Trump has pulled his ads in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Ohio.
https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/henrygomez/trump-campaign-ads-pulled-back-ohio-wisconsin

I think the only real significance here is that he's broke. Super pac ads are still running and at this point I really question the effectiveness of campaign ads. When there's literally 3-4 campaign ads running every 2 minute break, I'm certain where we're to the point where the ads become white noise.

I'm much more interested to see the other ways in which their lack of cash will effect the campaign.

I know we're wallowing in misery while laughing at KU and flood aggie but This Texas Tech game is shocking. They're up 2 late in the 4th against Houston Baptist. HBU is 18-56, all time, in the FCS. Tech was favored by 45.

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / Defund Prosecutors
« on: July 09, 2020, 12:39:17 AM »
I've been on this one for years, DAs offices have much more power in the criminal justice system than cops do, and have ruined far more innocent lives by being biased, lazy, incompetent, agenda driven, headline craving, stat driven, etc. They don't face even the smallest bit of scrutiny. If there weren't rampant issues with DAs essentially everywhere they could function as a check and balance in the law and order universe, but they are not. The criminal justice system has become nothing more than an extremely effective path to prison for citizens of this country.

This was on the nightly news tonight, discussing a study of bias in jury selections. This little nugget was in the piece. It was from a UC Berkeley study done of cases in California from 2006-2018

Appeals of non-death-penalty verdicts involving peremptory strikes
Prosecutors struck Black jurors in 72% of the cases studied, while striking white jurors in 0.5% of the cases. Yes, the decimal point is in the correct place.
https://www.nbcnews.com/nightly-news/video/new-study-highlights-issues-of-systemic-bias-in-jury-selection-87232581649
It's a shame the focus is on the cops, the prosecutors are the real problem with the criminal justice system.
