I don't think getting paid is on the table
-
The undrafted one is going to be confusing AF for coaches when trying to recruit over kids leaving early.
-
So, Self can still get his players paid right? Maybe even more so now...
-
I wonder how a recruit becomes "elite"
-
supposedly USA Basketball is supposed to classify them as elite or scrub

So Coach K decides?

No, Jim Tooley does. Coach K simply works for USA basketball, he's not in charge.
-
Oh, okay.
Somebody let Bill Seff/Snyds know he works for the university, and the president of the university decides not him.
-
good. Coach K is a stud who does nothing but win and trigger losers

Some coaches have more power at schools because the success of the athletics programs drives attendance and philanthropy. USA basketball doesn't rely on either of those things and therefore doesn't NEED Coach K. He coaches for USA basketball because he wants gold medals and there's a line of talented coaches behind him who would be willing to coach the men's national team for the exact same reason. Plus it's an obvious conflict of interest to have the head coach at a successful D1 school determining which HS players qualify for representation.
-
The conflict of interests in this are obvious and many, coach K is just a symbol of them.
If you think the power schools aren't arranging to have their recruits play on team usa, you're rough ridin' naive.
This is ridiculous and more evidence of the joke the ncaa has become.
-
Odds that Bill Self's son quickly becomes an agent?
-
I don't see how anything has changed here, now we just have agents taking a bigger role in the distribution of payments and control of players.

Arranging how? For the U19 and other youth teams, the players are invited to tryouts and then the team members are picked based on their performance.

too obvious, he will be a very valuable team member at an agency now that his dream of becoming a brand manager at Adidas is gone

You think USA basketball cares about having good relationships will universities?
This isn't FIFA, you can't apply pressure to an organization that isn't reliant on outside money.

OMG, trey. C'mon
