Tulsa Hurricane thread
« on: December 08, 2017, 07:23:48 PM »
Tulsa looks like it would be an elite Missouri Valley quality team.  One sports opinionator said since we are projected at the bottom of the Big 12, this should be an even match.  The Tulsa team is coached by Haith.  I think we should win by 10.

I understand.  Out here in the hinterlands of Kansas, there is not much entertainment.  I like basketball, but HS level does not turn my crank.  So I root for the Cats.  Try to make it fun as we probably will swoon about mid season.  It is kind of fun in the spring having cussing fits in the garage over Oscar.  Cats really don't appreciate these fits.  Renodog use to get all concerned and try to console me.  I still think my Jayhawk neighbor ran him over.

From USA Today News:
"The teams are similar offensively. Kansas State is averaging 78.9 points and Tulsa is averaging 79.3. The difference is on defense. Kansas State is among the nation's leaders while holding opponents to 61 points per game, Tulsa is giving up 77 per game. Neither team is a great rebounding team, with K-State at 32 per game and Tulsa at 37.

Kansas State is led by Deathbite at 15.3 points per game. The Flush is averaging 14.8, and Claws is averaging 13 while leading the team in rebounding at 6.7 per outing. Xavier Sneed is averaging 11 per game. K-State is averaging eight steals against 11 turnovers per game. Stokes has made 25 3-pointers and is shooting 50 percent from there.

Junior Etou leads Tulsa with 16.8 points and 6.4 rebounds. Sterling Taplin is averaging 13.4 and DaQuan Jeffries is averaging 11.4. Tulsa is shooting 47 percent overall and 34 from behind the arc. Tulsa is averaging four steals per game and 14 turnovers.

Is there anyone who hasn't seen enough of Oscar? Getting schooled by Heath on a neutral court ought be reason for immediate dismissal.
I suppose any team could go four-for-thirty from three on a given night, but that's the worst rebounding K-State team I've ever seen night in night out.

It’s like I’ve always said, you lose 100% of the games where you make like 10% of your shots.

This was not good in total.  Sneed and Wade okay.  5 spot was atrocious.  Oscar I am convinced can't coach big men.

We would have lost by twenty if Etou wasn't the worst post-up center in college BB.

I feel like KSU is stuck in basketball purgatory... look ok, drop a game to a team like Tulsa, look decent, drop a bad conference game then beat an awesome B12 team, squeak into the NCAA tournament, get knocked out early and then tell ourselves that it's been a good year.

If everyone stays and develops 2018 could be pretty good, then we'll be back to missing the NCAA tournament and hearing 'Well, we've got a young team this year.'

Same ol' oscar crap year after year.  Nothing but perimeter shots and jumpers.  Hard team to watch.

The way this team rebounds, or rather doesn't rebound, it's going to get piss-pounded in conference. I don't see a NCAA bid this year.

Yeah guys get all the facts from just watching the game before you say something based on legit stats
8-1 dipshit

We started last year 7-1 and 5-1 the year before.

Well would you look at that, we haven’t just lost to a top 15 team anymore.  Who could have predicted after the 8-1 start we had that we would lose to a dog crap team?  Anybody?  Anybody?

I sat 10 feet from Oscar tonight and it was pretty great, he has names for his plays like FLORIDA!  And then later yells CROSSBOW! while Tulsa is driving the Rim on the other side of the court
it’s not like I’m tired of WINNING, but dude, let me catch my breath.

1) we finished 3-21 FGs last 16 minutes. Only 8 of those were 2 FGAs. This was after we went 4-5 on 2s to start 2nd half.

2) We made 4 3pt shots. Dean made a 12 & 14 foot jumper. Barry made 15 foot jumper. We missed our other 33 shots from 10 feet and out.

3) Cartier was useless in his 10 minutes. Missed 2 3s, one an airball. For the most part, stood 25 feet from goal and passed to the next man.  He looked like a power forward playing 5 feet behind the arc

4) we made 1 of our last 20 3PT attempts. ONE.
