Based on what's been covered post spring game in Waco it sounds like they'll have a pretty softish front in a 3-4 and anyone that can run the ball should push them around. Their secondary looks fast and quality, but how likely might this season's KSU Cats pull off the upset of the Bears? It's getting rough ridin' old losing to these Baptists who were lucky to be pulled into our elite conference anyways. Can we ball control them to death or will they just score all day, e'ry day no matter how much we control the clock with the running game? Or, will we just suck and I'm getting my hopes up?

Signed,

I have a bizarre and unshakeable faith in this year's team. I just feel we're going to outperform all the projections. We will probably get destroyed tho

This. We won't be able to stop their offense.

Briles might take a different job with all the lawsuits like the Animal did.

Lol, what happened to Scott? Like, I am 75% nihilist, but even Scott's nihilism is sometimes too much for me.

Without actual elite talent, Bill's ball control run game doesn't give much of an edge in the hurry up pass happy conference the Big XII has become. In the past this wasn't the case. Would be nice to be able to actually throw the ball again. I'm not optimistic.

The passing game gives weaker teams a chance against power teams. Sean's just employing a little reverse psychology.

It does fine if you're effective at it. Just like any other kind of offense. Which goes right back to what you were saying about talent. Sometimes, we're just going to get out talented.

That more than anything else. I mean, we really haven't been close the last three times we've gone to Waco. Nothing is going to change at Baylor until Briles is gone. They are still going to hitting 50+ more days than not. Still going to be putting 10-win seasons more years than not. But man when they're forced to vacate those wins...  :Woohoo:

Agreed that talent is the ultimate predictor of success, but at least in a league with less potent passing attacks ball control can even the playing field more.

Yeah, I want to believe in the ball control, but how many times has that actually worked for us against teams with superior talent? Baylor '11, or "The Scheme Doctor" game as I call it, comes to mind. But that game was also half-miracle. Even when we were really efficient at it and had talent, like in '12, we still were badly exposed vs Baylor and Oregon.

Baylor is going to be a Maty Mauck type train wreck this year.
