I appreciate blackcats providing scoop, but I wonder if these donors are talking about what they want to happen instead of what's reality. "Hey stick around for a month while telling recruits that you'll be around longer then we'll let you go, meanwhile feel free to tell that guy with a box who lives in Mission the same thing." We go into games not knowing who in the hell the quarterback is or who is on the roster yet we expect accurate info about what coaches are retiring or getting fired in the future. LOL.

This goes back to the meetings last December that Bill had with Leavitt and Venables.

Now did he have the same conversation with both of them?  I don't know.  I do feel confident that we're willing to overpay Leavitt to be the DC here.  I do feel comfortable believing that Leavitt and Venables are still relatively close.  I don't believe that Leavitt and Venables being at Kansas State are mutually exclusive.

Blackcats has always been consistent with me in saying that Leavitt was coming as DC, regardless of what we were doing with Brent.  Would Brent keep Leavitt on if he got the job here?  I think there is a comfort level there, so I wouldn't discount it.

It's Leavitt for Hayes, and Venables politely told K-State (?) that he'd love to be a head coach at KSU when that job comes open.  Pretty good play by him if it has K-State (?) giving him right of first refusal someday while he can continue to look around.

IMO, Snyd's knew he wasn't going to hang it up this year. They do have a strategy to turn it over to BV.  They knew the DC position will be open this coming year.  So, knowing BV will want his own staff, they have a sit down with BV and ask who he wants as DC.  It is agreed to bring in Leavitt.  So, Leavitt is already here when BV comes.  But this is also a backup in case something happens that BV doesn't come, Leavitt again is already here.  No inside info, just my two cents from seeing the timetables of things.

Either that, or some booster trying to justify or make sense of why it would be happening, thinking that the is no way that Leavitt is the only change we are really making and that this must just be the first move.

Then it's a well coordinated smokescreen, and you'll have an AD who has basically built his career on finding capital to build stuff actively burning bridges with the folks most likely and able to provide him with said capital.

Enough people believe it's going to happen where it's safe to say something is happening.  Either conversations, or a handshake, or whatever, but Currie and Venables are talking or have talked.  JL may be plan B, so it may happen, but Currie isn't stupid enough to alienate the most important part of his constituency for some ruse that leads to the hiring of a 60 year old to take over his football program.
