I mean, I love Jordy, I enjoyed the story, the last sentence made it very gpc-y, tuckish, white Midwestern, whatever you want to call it.
some people are humble?  :dunno:

he's just a farm kid.......the couple of people that i know he went to grade school with said he was a pretty shy and quiet kid........i think as an adult, that trait turns into humble.

"just a farm kid" is very condescending to me (farm kid)

Personally, I'm the most humbled when I win something.
I once blew clove smoke in a guy's face that cut in front of me in the line to KJ's.

Winning stuff is the worst.  It really tests you.  I mean, you want to celebrate, but you can't because celebrating is what losers do all the time.

I'm a farm kid and am in no way humble. Farm kids have it rough ridin' made, their parents are rich, and live a great lifestyle that no one can just buy into unless they're ridiculously wealthy.

And his dad is pretty much managing it. Won't sell anything unless Pops Nelson likes/approves of potential buyer.

Are we conflating humble with nice? I'm not sure getting paid money to make a commercial about your life is particularly humble.

This  may or may not be related, but there is a downside to all of this.

I have a few buddies who are brothers and grew up in Ashland, KS. Their family are successful ranchers. They are both looking ahead to a prosperous life, but are desperate to find a girl while in Manhattan. That's because when they move home their options will be between bucktooth Sally and using Farmers Meet (which we know is full of gold diggers).

So it might seem glorious, but it aint all glitter and gold.
