Kansas State WR Tyler Lockett "ate up some good corners" in college, notes ESPN's Mel Kiper.

The analyst was impressed by Lockett's 1.56 10-yard split, noting that it "showed off his quickness." The 5-foot-9, 181-pound Lockett finished with 93 catches for 1,351 yards and nine touchdowns last season. He's been compared to Colts WR T.Y. Hilton by CBS Sports' Dane Brugler. "If there's a concern, it's his small hands," Kiper wrote. "A slot pick."

The best comps I could think of for Lockett in the last 3 drafts are TY Hilton (5'10, #92 in '12), Tavon Austin (5'8, #8 in '13), and Brandin Cooks (5'10, #20 in '14).

If Lockett can run a sub-4.4 40 like those 3 guys he'll be drafted in the first 3 rounds. Hilton didn't go as high as the other two because he played at FIU and didn't play the same type of competition.

ansas State WR Tyler Lockett ranks as Gil Brandt's No. 5 receiver.

This is a wildly optimistic ranking from the veteran evaluator. In order, Brandt ranks Amari Cooper, Kevin White, DeVante Parker and Breshad Perriman Nos. 1-4. Grading Lockett No. 5 means Brandt prefers him to a spate of potential first rounders such as Dorial Green-Beckham, Devin Smith, Phillip Dorsett, Jaelen Strong, and Devin Funchess, as well as Round 2-probabilities Sammie Coates, Nelson Agholor and Rashad Greene. We can't say we agree.

i think Lockett will be a "surprise" second rounder, like Jordy.

There was nothing surprising about Jordy going in the second round. What was surprising, at the time, was that he was the first WR taken in the draft.  :emawkid:

A guy in the comments thinks Randall Cobb will go to the Raiders and the Packers will pick up Lockett in the second.  I would kill a drifter for that to happen.
Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

#KState's Ryan Mueller weighed 245 pounds today at Pro Day, according to source. Did 33-inch vertical, 8'9" broad, 18 bench reps.

Add Chargers and Broncos to list of teams in MHK. That’s roughly 30 scouts from approximately 20 teams present for #KState Pro Day.

The 6.90 and 6.94 unofficial times I tweeted a few minutes ago on Ryan Mueller were for his 3-cone drills.

Herbie Teope ?@HerbieTeope  24m24 minutes ago
#KState WR Tyler Lockett did not run the 40-yard dash, I'm told. But he is going through position drills. Lockett ran a 4.4 40 at Combine.

Ryan Muelller ran an unofficial 4.85 and 4.83 40-yard dash, per source. Unofficial 6.90 and 6,94. Not bad at all for Mueller.

Kansas State WR Tyler Lockett set 17 school records in college.

His father, Kevin, previously held the receiving yard, reception and receiving touchdown records. "The younger Lockett is able to beat opponents in a variety of ways," wrote ESPN's Sharon Katz. "Despite his small stature (5-11, 175 pounds), he led all Power 5 receivers with 21 receptions on passes thrown 15 yards or longer last season. He also ranked fourth in the Big 12 in yards gained after the catch." Lockett also had more than 2,500 return yards and six return touchdowns at Kansas State. "Rookies can make an impact in the return game, and arguably no college player has been a more efficient returner than Lockett in the past four years," Katz wrote.
