Title: Updated roster: notable (we're huge and C-Bas Taylor is dream)
Post by: The Manhatter on July 21, 2017, 09:50:54 AM: The new roster came out with listed weights. This is the biggest KSU has been on offense. We are going to pound the ball relentlessly. Look at the bulk of these men.

OG - Beachem 320, Matthews 321, Mitchell 307, *Adler 314, *Rivas 356

*added Rivas and Adler to this group of interior lineman because these two freshman are more talented than the interior OL vets listed. I would not be surprised if either eventually plays.

TE - Valentine 270, Gammon 267, Lenners 254

Run the ball. The TEs are huge.

RB - Barnes 227, McCoy 233, Burns 215

Good lord. Burns has some junk coming and he was a state sprint champ.

Finally, Chabastin Taylor measured 6'4 223 :emawkid: that size to go along with his speed = dreamboat

Pretty much. Between Chabastin and Strickland I don't know which would be Randy Moss and the other Josh Gordon.

Between sending Barnes, Silmon, and McCoy through the line and bruising linebackers and safeties, and Ertz being a threat on the zone read and option, this team was going to be formidable in the running game even before you factor in the really, really talented receivers.

If the defense is even serviceable, I think the floor for this team is ten wins. I really believe that. I'm just floored at the amount of offensive talent this team has. I think there are at least five potential draft picks on the offensive side (Barnes, Dimel, Pringle, Risner, Frantz). Hell, I think Dayton Valentine could get drafted in the late rounds if he has a decent pro day. And I'm not even considering guys we haven't seen yet like McCoy and Strickland.

I really want to say 10+ wins should be the "expectation" in the regular season, but I can't shake the idea that I'm being too optimistic. Hope I'm not. This team should be disciplined enough to win games that were narrow losses last year (WV and Okie State). At Texas is gonna be huge. There's no reason we shouldn't be undefeated going into that one, and if we can get out of Austin with a win, I think people outside Manhattan will really start to pay attention. That said, I'm obviously fine flying under the radar as long as we can.

This team is experienced enough that a high ranking won't faze them. Ertz, Reed, Risner, etc. will be strong leadership from preventing that.

The higher the ranking the better.
