Mitch Holthus tried to pimp his "Purple Palace" last night -- "playing at the Octagon of Doom or the Purple Palace, or whatever the kids are calling it..."

Mitch is firmly out of the friend zone and is treading a dangerous path towards foe/nemesis territory.

To be fair, they didn't know that wheat came from farmers.  They thought wheat came from bread.  Rye bread.   :lick:

When did it become stale?  Was it before or after it became trite and commonplace?

You know what I bet chum absolutely hates?  Top 40s music.

Also: prime time television.

And non-amateur porn.  I'm right, aren't I chum?  I know I am.

This says it all.

Attention K-State fans!!  The University of Kansas acronym is in fact NOT "UK."  UK colloquially refers to The University of Kentucky.  I know the whole flip flop thing is confusing, but I need everyone to focus.  Next.

Traditions are not started by calling them traditions.  Much like the "powertowel," the "Octagon of Doom" is a contemporary construction.  Traditional, tradition Example:  The "Rock Chalk Chant" was begun as just that, a chant.  It was one of many that were cascaded from the student section.  After many years it became the favorite of the students.  Silly, and senseless?  yep.  Steeped in history and tradition?  OH YEAH!  Oct. of Doom?  Silly, and senseless? OH YEAH!  Steeped in history and tradition? GIVE IT MORE THAN A YEAR!

"Beware of the Phog!"  Greatest name is College Basketball.  Phog Allen coached Adolph Rupp (biggest name in Kentucky bball) and Dean Smith (biggest name in UNC bball).  When it comes to Phog Allen, he is the history of college basketball; it wouldn't be what it is today without him.  OH YEAH, he invented the NCAA Tournament!  No, really, it was his idea.

Finally.

UMMMM.... You guys know that farmers can go to KU also, right?  Cool, just checkin.  Hope you have a good end to the year.  Let's rep. the Big 12 well in the turney.  GO HAWKS, and I guess GO STATE!!  TOP TEN KANSAS TEAMS!

One extremely little known fact is that Phog Allen was a known purveyor of young boys.

This will probably need to be added to the history.  I didn't hear it on 810, but it sounds like opposing players are on to the moniker, this is the first time I've heard of it mentioned.

Quote
J.T. (Tiller) was on 810 this morning. Sharp kid. Anyway, they ask him if there was anywhere he just hated to play, Lubbock, Allen, Etc. He says "Manhattan, Kansas. It is like a dungeon there, dark, can't see, The Octagon of Doom." Isn't it great to hear other players saying they don't want to play in our place! He mentioned the Octagon of Doom more than once.

About 28min in.  Sounds like we intimidated him pretty badly
