So, is @sys now urging everyone to vote Trump (unless you live in UT)?  :sdeek:

Still need people in blue states to vote Hillary.

We need a master list of who to vote for by state.

Who should I vote for in Missouri?  I'll vote for anyone except Donald, Hillary, Gary or Jill.

Donald has to win Missouri for McMullin to have any sort of chance.

I think some of you MO voters are forgetting that Missouri is the Morman's homeland.

I bet you guys one spirally tower thingy that if there was a second state that church was going to White Horse, it would be MO.

I haven't been a GC for a while now, but as of like 10 yrs ago, you couldn't build structural with Chinese steel.  Was kinda headscratchy when that was brought up last night. Must have changed since.

Chinese steel is not common. Only one project I know of has used it, and that was because that particular odd size was literally only made in China once every 6 months

Government projects require American, I'm not sure what the rules are on private projects.

It used to be that certain calcs were based on certain steel standards (A34 for example) and the stuff china was using as those certain standards were thought to be compromised and less than those standards.  So if you engineered a building to a certain steel standard, you couldn't use that equivalent from China because of their shitty steel not being equivalent.

mocat probably has better details on this.

the structural drawings will indicate the ASTM specifications required for the steel being used on the project. this is all very standardized in the US, as most shapes are A36 (36 ksi), HSS shapes are A500 (46 ksi), and wide flanges are A992 (50 ksi). it's up to the steel supplier to provide steel that meets the specifications, wherever they get it from
