The 80's lipsynching was pretty great, too.

Keenan Thompson is my least favorite. He plays the same black guy for every character and it only works for "What's up with that?". Which I actually really enjoy so probably keeps him from being my least favorite now that I think about it.

So what.

I like Keenan and there's a reason they keep him around.

He's solid.

Love SNL. Love this cast as well. Top 5?

1. Kenan Thompson
2. Seth Myers
3. Aidy Bryant
4. Bobby Moynihan
5. Venessa Bayer

HM-Cicily Strong-interesting to see how she does in Weekend Update when Seth takes over late night

It's interesting how they choose people.  I saw the show that Aidy was pulled from to join SNL in Chicago a few weeks before it happened.  She was good, but there was another girl in the show who was killer.  Had the whole audience going and had diverse characters.  Aidy seemed like a background character.  I was kind of blown away they took her.

Was the other girl similar to Aidy or was she more like one of the other cast members? Aidy does a great job of filling her role on SNL.

I don't think she was like any of the girls.. she reminded me of Molly Shannon or maybe Sheri Oteri.  She had quite a range though.

Honestly, I don't really like any of the girls now but Cicily is growing on me.

 :surprised:

i was there right after aidy was pulled. is the person you are talking about tawny newsome? cause she was great. i'm also fairly certain she's real life batshit crazy. http://tawnynewsome.com/

He stole this character from Jim Norton.

Yes that's her.  It was the "We're all in this room together" show.  There was also a small tiny white girl that was crazy and more funny than her too.

Plus Haim! They probably had the best musical performance of the season so far.

Hutcherson is incredible on that skit. One of the best skits ever.

I liked it, but I think it might have played better had they just been reading the lyrics, not playing clips.   Be funny to see how long it took the audience to catch on.

Yeah, you're wrong, but that's OK.

didn't realize we've thrown the other snl thread under the bus. but i'm starting to enjoy this new cast more and more. cecily strong seems a good fit for weekend update. love how keenan's just a staple now. and jay pharoah is v. talented, perfect comedic style for sketch show.

The one thing I don't like on the new season is the Kimye sketches. Just seems mean without being funny. :don'tcare:

Also, the original speech critic in this thread was amazing. When they brought him back, it was maybe even better. Hope it's somewhat recurring.
