Switzerland was the only stop on my trip that was significantly more expensive for everyday type items. Everywhere else was similar or cheaper than kc. It's a beautiful country though.

I have IRL looked up housing prices in suburban Toronto. Vancouver would be better, but it's too expensive.
I know I want to live in the Alps, or at least Alps-adjace. My problem is that lawyers in other countries don't make outrageous money.

Yeah. According to my lived experiences, most professions in Europe have a high floor but a low ceiling.
