I've got Spieth or Patrick Reed. And I don't even like Patrick, he's just feeling it this year.

1. Rickie
2. Tiger
3. Duf Daddy--- Not sure he qualified. He's been off the radar this year
I'd love to see Rickie finally win one. Also good for the Big 12.

Yeah, had one really good win last year, but other than that, just does enough to be successful on tour.

He's getting old, though. Probably needs to realize that and stop hanging out with the young guys in the frat house.

Anyone hear what Bryson said? I couldn’t tell

Twitter is speculating that Brooks is pissed at the hard spikes on the concrete because no pro wears them. Others are saying that Bryson said "you just have to start it on the right line" in responding to Brooks talking about having a hard time reading the putts.

They're both robots, but it appears Brooks is less of one.

CBS enjoyed it's highest single round of golf ratings in 3 years, and viewership doubled year over year at the peak hour on Sunday.   ESPN was up 18% over 2019, they didn't count 2020.

You know golf coverage networks are   that Phil can stay playing well and that Tiger can make a miraculous recovery.

I actually think it was both. Brooks was side eyeing him even before Bryson got over there, then Bryson definitely said something because Brooks said "I don't want to listen to that bullshit."

I know these two seriously hate the crap out of each other IRL & I absolutely love it, because Brooks half asses golf tournaments and wins 5 majors without showing real interest in the sport and dork store Bryce has to go all physics with it and eat a crap ton of whey protein to keep up with the big guys, while averaging 5 hour rounds to keep in contention. It must infuriate, Bryce! #TeamBrooks

Do you play? Honest question. I only watch the NBA to see Lebron, so if that’s the case, I get it. This is fun to follow for those who pay attention to the sport and I’m definitely not advocating getting into it if you have no interest.

There was no fight, just two dudes who really don't like each other occupying the same space. Happens in every sport, rarely carried out publicly, nothing specific to a "dumb game."
Title: Re: PGA Championship
Post by: 420seriouscat69 on May 26, 2021, 08:16:33 PM
Tiger is bringing the MJ factor to the sport for many casual fans. Just like MJ, I watched the NBA all through the 90’s and early 00’s. I agree, once the stars leave, it’s an adjustment to regain your excitement for the sport. I do think the PGA has a lot of fun like able guys if you give it a chance tho.

I don't think so. II think this what you get when you have two millennials speaking to each other online but they play in a sport when there is no threat of physical retribution. Millennials speak to each other in a different way than people have before them, communicating through the internet with the ability to avoid face-to-face confrontation which allows people to kinda talk crazy to each other. The reason why Davis Love never called John Daly a fat drunk publicly is because the possibility existed that DL3 would have had to fight John. That element of life doesn't really exist anymore.

I think we'll see more of this type stuff.

It's kind of amazing how much pro golf talent Dallas produces. I'm not sure why that is, although I suspect money plays a factor.

Pretty tough day for the PGA Tour and I couldn't be happier. Jay Monahan trying to maintain a monopoly on professional golf is devious. We wouldn't have an issue if he just would let players play on both tours.

I'll be interested to see how it plays out.  I think the Saudi tour will lose significant amounts of money for a while but likely has deep enough pockets to withstand it.

Agreed. I was talking with my dad yesterday and saying it doesn't fiscally make sense on their end, but I'm sure they have a plan. They have to.

They've signed all these American golfers and don't have a US television deal.

DJamer got 125M guaranteed just to exclusively play the LIV? What country do they play tournaments in?

You can only watch it on Youtube and their website too. That sucks. Here are the events listed so far. I'd actually be interested to attend one, just to see if I can pick up any difference in the events.

I am more than amused, quite delighted actually, to see the organization supported by the most money-motivated people in the most money motivated country in the world get mad about another money motivated country engaging in fair competition with them, and stealing money motivated players from them.

I have kids who like sports, a lot. I couldn't imagine taking them to a golf tournament. Kids that are young enough to be into the stuff in that video generally aren't going to want to spend any more than 10 minutes watching someone else play golf.

I haven't been following the LIV stuff. It seems like they've taken 15-20% of the highest ranked 100-200 players and none of the top 15.

Seems like they could try to entice many more players with the "high nine figures" money they said they offered to Tiger. Who knows what the ultimate objective is, though?

Brooks hasn’t even sniffed winning a golf tournament in over a year that I recall so he did the smart thing, I’m sure they offered him a number similar to dustin johnson.

Me too. The European and Asian tours have played in Saudi Arabia for years and players who played there faced no PGA bans or media scrutiny.
