Do you smoke drugs? (Intervention advice)

I have a female friend/former coworker who has fallen in with a new guy and his crowd of degenerate losers.  They are into all kinds of drugs and she is smoking and snorting all kinds of crap.  She's into synthetic marijuana now too because she's trying to get a job and pass a drug test... Oh yeah, she quit her job a few weeks after meeting this guy because she was all doped up and couldn't make it to work anymore.  He hasn't lost his job because he doesn't have one. He sells drugs for a living. He's a real scumbag...

Anyway... we've been keeping in touch with her and trying to intervene a bit and stayed in communication but it's getting to the point (synthetic marijuana is bad) that we think we need to really get involved for her safety...

In your experiences... is it even worth trying or should we let her hit bottom, hope she doesn't die, and then help her rebuild?

Or do we just assume she's mumped and wait for the funeral?

I think even if you helped and got her straight she'd just end up doing it again.  Self-destructive behaviors seem to be chronic, in my experience.

You should get really involved in her life and if it starts to seem like it's not working just try that much harder until it does.  Just keep pushing.  Do not hesitate to get as controlling and aggressive as the situation requires.

This seems like the best course of action. We haven't even given her any crap about it yet. Just kind of  from the sidelines.  Also... she just had to go pick her mom up out of rehab... so it runs in the family.  She's probably definetly mumped.

Offer any help that she will take. She's going to have to want to quit though. Usually that involves rock bottom. That's how I quit, and I'm not sure anything else would have worked.

I hope she's ok 1bigwillie. Although nobody has ever died from synthetic marijuana (lol). It is extremely gross though.
