Can’t believe anyone would expose their skin to filthy missouri pond water.

Floated down the Potomac River two weeks ago and now I’m going to crush some brews on the Ozarks. Clean sweep this summer, Mocat!

Shame thread: That was my first float trip, ever!

NRO float trip used to be the

I'll def get down for a couple LOTO trips a year but I think it's more to people watch.  It's weird down there.

Potomac float sounds super lame compared to the absolute trash rage fest that is on the Elk or meramec, et al

Fortunately my DC friends have a cabin out in West Virginia by the potomac, so we started the journey out there, so the ppl watching was still great.

Everyone should take a trip down the mighty Elk at least once.

i can't believe duck boats are still legal. and also why did they even go out with 60+ mph winds in the forecast?

Do the passengers not wear life vests on these things? I've looked up photos of them and it doesn't look like anyone wears one.

Probably not, but you would think they'd have them on the boat in case an issue came up, like this.

You would think they would be handing them to people and making sure they buckle them up before being allowed on the boat.

Was at the ozarks a couple of weeks ago and our boat driver never made us wear them. Legit said "just don't tell on me on trip adviser, lol". He also snuck away from us at a bar and got super smashed with a buddy of his and we lost out on an hour of his time. They live their own world down there.

Had no idea those kind of vessels existed, hopefully they won’t anymore.

some do, some don't. on a duck boat sinking, it would be much easier to escape without a PFD than with one. that's why it's confounding that they're still legal. it's the canopy roof that traps everybody inside. once the boat is underwater, your PFD would just keep you up against the bottom of the roof.

Every vessel like that I've been on (but never been on a duck boat) has a central place for PFDs that they in 10 seconds tell you about.

Yeah those canopies should have openings in case of emergency....but wtf did they think going out in that weather.

20 foot swells? Time to take this car boat out captained by a guy who requires you to blow on a duck horn.
