No, no it isn't. Socialism is when that type of redistribution is required by the government. Allowing a private entity to do whatever they want with their money, such as donating it to a good cause, is much more of a free market system.

Bless Andrew's heart for trying on this one.

When I saw a similar socialism vs. free market post yesterday I had a similar reaction as Andrew. Though I still think the federal government should have a role in helping with something so tragic, it is the idea of limited federal government spending / free market proponents that private citizens would step in if federal funding was removed. This post goes to prove that.

I do understand this thread so I can leave it at that. . .but it is wild to think that so many Americans believe that in an America without federal welfare that those with money would happily just watch everyone else suffer instead of supporting private organizations making a difference. This would seem to prove otherwise.

I see an example of Pub brain washing.  These corp's are using this for tax deductions with profit from gov hand outs( corp welfare) so they can milk  the people of their spending money.  Remember Pubs don't favor the working man or "mom and pop businesses".

Next line... trickle down theory.
