Yea, I missed him.  All I'm saying is drafting QBs is pretty hit or miss and the Chiefs should take more risks in finding one, but I don't put that failure on Reid's shoulders yet.

i mean really, no one should defend the chiefs organization and the quarterback position at all

drafting any player beyond the 1st round in the nfl is difficult.  as it relates to drafting qbs, the chiefs have been spectacular failures at it. looking at their drafts, it appears that they've decided that the best way to avoid making a mistake is by not drafting the position (a legitimate quarterback) at all.  it goes all the way back to their 1983 draft with todd blackledge at the 7th pick in the 1st round.  jim kelly and dan marino both went after he did and the organization has never gotten past it.

below is the past 30+ YEARS of chiefs qb picks, it's a disaster and it's in the organization's heads

1983: todd blackledge in the 1st (7th overall)
1987: doug hudson in the 7th
1988: danny mcmanus in the 11th
1989: mike elkins in the 2nd
1992: matt blundin in the 2nd
1994: steve mathews in the 7th
1995: steve stenstrom in the 4th
1997: patt barnes in the 4th

lol @ this 8 year gap

2005: james kilian in the 7th
2006: brodie croyle in the 3rd

another 5 year gap, no qb drafted at all

2011: ricky stanzi in the 5th
2014: aaron murray in the 5th
2016: kevin hogan in the 5th

none of that evidence would suggest that they're at all serious about developing a QB in house and with the chiefs stuck w/ $41M in cap hit because of the smith contract over the next two seasons, nothing is going to change that

I get it, I just don't blame Dorsey/Reid for how shitty Peterson/Schottenheimer and Pioli/Haley were.  If Dorsey and Reid keep waiting until the 5th to look at QBs in the next couple of drafts, I'll start to get more annoyed.

Dorsey/Reid aren't the Chiefs.  The Chiefs have implemented a poor strategy for getting a franchise QB since the 80s.  You should be fed up with that strategy by now.

that was my point. the chiefs perspective on a qb resonates throughout the organization and starts at the top
and chicat, dorsey and reid thought enough of smith to give him a franchise contract gmafb with that bullshit lulz

There is nothing to say about the Chiefs that hasn't been said. If I were in charge, I'd cut Smith, go after Romo or Brees to at least try and make a final run with this group and Andy Reid, while drafting a young QB that can take over in 2018 or 2019. The divisional round is pretty good, and really they maximized the talent and team to get there 2 years in a row. Maybe with a Romo or Brees or something they could make an AFC Championship game next season and hope to hand it off to a young guy soon.

But that won't happen.

Who is "the Chiefs" then?  Is the belief that Hunt is rough ridin' the QB situation up?

It seems hard to blame a single person or regime when the same strategy has been implemented for three decades.

KK has lost it.  He was trying to say Ben hasn't done anything special in the playoffs.  I agree with that but he still played better than Smith in the playoffs and the other night.

Ben was under a little bit of pressure, but still managed to see Brown on a 3rd & 10 for a 52 yd gain. If there was no pressure or he sees Brown from the git go, it's probably a TD. However, Smith also had a chance for a big play, he wasn't under pressure and just doesn't see Tyreek for what could have been 81 yd TD.   Those 2 plays right there were just huge.

I know Kelce and Wilson both had drops on the 1 drive when we took over at the Pitt 46, and that's not on Smith, but 9 completions and 63 net passing yards on the 7 drives after our Initial Td....cmon that's pretty pathetic, and a fair amount of that blame is on #11

I'm not sure what plan B is, but I just can't support plan A with Smith being the QB of this team. Even if we got another decent WR and Conley became the #4WR and 5th option, I don't think Smith would take more shots to open WR 15+ yds downfield.

There is an 81 yd Tyreek TD, a 25+ yd gain to Ware and 20+ yd gain to Conley left out there (I'm giving him a pass on missed 4th qtr Tyreek open deep middle).
63 net passing over 7 drives for #11, and 130ish yards in missed opportunities

i agree more weapons in the passing game will be of minimal help with Smith still at QB.

If I am Clark I want a young power running back and both a proven blocking fullback and TE to take load off Smith, especially in the Goal to go situations.  Power running is not really Reid's mo but getting guys open is not our issue.

Foreman would continue the UT tradition at tailback nicely :hookem:

Listening to Mitch on 580 last night, he said:

Thinks the team needs to get Berry signed

Wasn't too high on Poe and didn't think it would be a priority to sign him. But would need to draft a DL high if Poe is gone.

Needs ILB help bad.  If DJamer can come back, his injury was late in the year, so he won't be back until around 10> games in or so, kinda like Houston was this year.

Raved on Alex Smith, said he is like 22-5 his last 27 games, people need to get off of his back, blah, blah.....but thought the Chiefs would still draft a QB like previous years, but depends on who is available/when. They have drafted Bray, Murray, and Hogan, but only Bray is still here.

IMO, they will ride Smith another year, hopefully get a young guy drafted and see if he can be the QBOTF.
Awaiting the inevitable KITN
