if I were going to do it over again, after having my iphone x for a few weeks, id opt for the 8+ over the x

my experience with the x has been hamstrung though with the buggy as crap ios 11

In what ways?  I haven't really had any trouble.  An App has crashed a few times over the course of the last month, but it seems to work really well overall.
lots of app crashes, gets stuck in panoramic mode, apps won’t minimize

Is there a way to select people to block from texting you, while still allowing them to call you?  Verizon, samsung note 8.  T-Y.

Open a text message from them. Open the menu (three vertical dots on my Android). Open People and Options. Disable notifications.

The message will still be in your Inbox but you won't get any notification. I do it to my ex when she's ranting.

It's actually in the Samsung UI.

https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-block-text-messages-in-ios-and-android/

ON A SAMSUNG PHONELike on a Google phone, Samsung phones have two ways to block messages. One method involves opening Messages, then choosing the conversation that contains the contact you want to block. From there, tap the More icon, select Block number, and toggle Message block to “On.” Then, tap OK.
Alternatively, head to Messages > More > Settings. Tap Block messages to select the check box, then tap Block list. From here, manually enter the contact’s number and tap the ‘+’ sign, or choose from your inbox or contacts list. When you’ve entered all the numbers you want to block, tap the back arrow.

Ah, I've been using the default verizon "messages+" app instead of the phone's text app.  Verizon's block does both texts and calls, not one or the other.  I'll have to see what negatives come w/using the samsung text app; I think the main one is that old texts won't sync to a new verizon phone if necessary.

I just got the 8+. Previously had the 5s, and hadn’t thought the 6 or 7 was worth it.  I don’t think the 8 or X is either, but my 5s was dying.  I bought the bigger storage option on the 8+ just to help ensure I could use it longer and not worry about how much music and crap I had on it.

Tried this, no luck.  The Samsung thing is just like Verizon’s; if you block someone from texting, it blocks them from calling too.

You're going to have to let a different app manage text messages. Try Facebook Messenger or Google Hangouts.

I use Google Hangouts & Textra SMS

I know Textra allows me to 'blacklist' someone.

I just flipped FB Messenger to handling app. Text block works there too.

Recently “upgraded” from an iPhone 6s to an 8. It’s a tiny bit faster on some apps. Battery life is better but my old phone was wearing out. Otherwise I’ve not noticed any difference at all. The upgrade isn’t worth the money (work paid for mine).
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

I have it and like it.  If I was still on a college budget, I would save my money for Aggieville and Spring Break trips though.

Do you just get triggered seeing a text from this person to the point you can’t just delete it or ignore it?

Have you looked into the Light Phone?  It's a minimalist cell phone that only makes calls.  It's meant to work in conjunction with your primary cell.  Would be better than a landline imo.

I have a home office, and like 6 different phone numbers across all sorts of tech platforms.  None are truly landlines, but one is what I call a landline in that it can only take calls and voicemails, even though I can field those calls and everything on my cell phone.  The important thing is that nobody could text that number a screenshot of what Nigel Johnson tweeted.

Now I want to know what Nigel tweeted.

That exclusive information can only be had by being stuck in this rough ridin' text message chain or by looking at Nigel Johnson’s twitter.  But you’d need internet access for the latter.
