Trim related: would I be verbally and/or physically assaulted if I wore a thunder shirt there? Kind of important

Cali is overrated. I'd do Dallas (or surrounding area) or Austin.

If you ask Rick Daris he'll tell you Dallas is the new Los Angeles.

orly?

It felt less hipstery than say, la or Portland or Eugene or Seattle or Westport.

yeah, because it's about an 8 block stretch of hipsters surrounded on 3 sides by rednecks (and by surfers on the other).

From time to time we’ll see a hipster in SLO. There are a couple of cocktail bars where I know I can find at least one pair of skinny jeans and a mustache. And on long weekends when we get the tourists coming up from LA or down from SF, the amount of plaid shirts in town multiplies. You can spot a hipster at Sally Loos coffee shop where they serve Chicago’s Intelligentsia coffee and a few of the baggers at New Frontiers (our version of Whole Foods Market) definitely sport the beanies.

Colorado is probably a good option.  You would probably need to drop 30-40 lbs though if you want to fit in.

Tacoma is a pretty good suggestion.

yes. I had the 3 best suggestions. all in one post. I'm pretty great sometimes like that.

Have you guys ever actually been to Tacoma?  I don't think so.  Otherwise you wouldn't be suggesting it.

I can't believe you'd case close this without my opinion. My neighbors moved from San Diego to Cary, NC. They are liberal. They love the weather here. So I guess Cary, NC. (Not really, but it is a good place.)
I want to know how many of you idiots that said San Diego said it only because you are an idiot and you heard somebody else say "Ohhh, San Diego is a great place to live!"
I'd look into smaller cities that still offer a lot to the residents. Asheville, NC would be pretty great. You could grow with the city. Hipsters abound everywhere, depending on what you do in your spare time. I saw some hipsters in Topeka effing Kansas once!

Good luck in San Diego!

I can't speak for everyone in the city, but you would be by me.  Probably not too big a deal where you'll be out east.

Just move to Vegas. Cheap flights and party 24/7. Fun for the whole family

Seems too hot though

Dry heat, not humid heat. So it feels 10x better than Ks and Ok

I love this place. It's like Siri but with personality (the word?)

Here's another qualification....airline prices. If we move far away, then the mrs will want to visit her people from time to time.

just dump her and move where you want to.
