AUBURN, Alabama -- Auburn will take the weekend off before getting its game week started in earnest for Kansas State next Thursday.

Gus Malzahn is scheduled to meet with the media for practice.

Follow along here for live updates.

Sammie Coates is expected to play next week, according to Malzahn.

Auburn used some of the bye week to do the evaluation that the Tigers did last season.

Kansas State's defensive end, Mueller, has a high motor, doesn't take plays off, Malzahn's been very impressed by him.

Malzahn says he's talked to LHC Bill Snyder, but he says he's really just kind of watched the Kansas State program under Snyder from afar.

Kansas State is very good at what they do. Malzahn says repeatedly that the Tigers don't make mistakes.

Malzahn on the zone read: "First of all, it starts upfront. ... And we've been fortunate to have some very effective zone read quarterbacks, even if they're not that fast."

Auburn has used some different guys at quarterback in practice in preparation for the Tigers.

Malzahn says there's some value in having transfers like Austin Golson and Tray Matthews available on scout team.

From a coaching standpoint, it's way too early for the coaches to get concerned about Nick Marshall's passing efficiency.

Auburn and Kansas State will be going for the same types of quarterbacks because both offenses require somebody who can run.

Doing the CBS thing is for exposure.

i'd say if we are basing our polls on what has been done on the field so far this season, ole miss at #10 makes at least as much sense if not more than kansas state at #20.
