Well I'm not sure he knows what identify politics is. Vote for me because I'm a woman is something that resonates because slightly over half of the populace are women. Vote for me because I'm black, hispanic, gay, generally won't work out so well and I've never seen that in a national campaign. If he meant that Hillary should sell something other than her dominant chromosome, then he should heed your advice and be better with words.

Sure, but I'm not sure they all qualify as identity politics. I don't consider the crazy black cop and the Muslim prayer guy identity politics. I'm not as familiar with what happened this week to make that determination. Obviously there was lots of "SHE'S A WOMAN!!!" this week. If they could have gotten away with calling themselves the party of white people, I think the pubs would have done just that last week. So maybe he was right
