eff it, why do we need a library?  shutter that place or at least throw the books out and repurpose the building to something that is actually functional.

I didn't know where else to put this.  I would be rough ridin' furious if I was still a student

http://www.kstatecollegian.com/2016/08/20/hale-librarys-hours-to-change-after-a-decade/

Same, I spent so much time there studying and doing homework. 12 am is laughable when you regularly there from 2am or 3am or later.

Yeah it wouldn't be so bad but the 24 hr study area sucks ass.  It's always hot as crap in there and not enough comfortable seating

Agreed, I always would hide up in the study cubicles on the 3rd and 4th floor, or best down the basement in the old library basement. Hardly anyone would be down there.

I was always a library basement cat, usually not very crowded and terrible cell service so I could actually study

It's a shock and awe move to solicit more funding by library management. K state has a budget of 880 million and can't keep a building open for 24 hours. Sounds like they should be fired for incompetence.

Isn't the fact that you guys are saying "I did this then but there were hardly anyone there" an argument for closing the library? The only time I went to the library was to talk to chicks, I spent much more time in the journalism library.

How many Top 50 Public Research Universities close their library at 8pm?

or maybe we went to those not so frequently full places because all the main spots were packed?  When I want to study I hated being around a bunch of super loud people in the main areas

8PM on a Friday? I dunno, you tell me.

I would assume most top 50 public research universities have multiple libraries, most of which are tied to areas of study.

TBT, why didn't you study in Durland or Seaton or whatever? The CES department didn't have a library and study area?

I'm with lib, I just wasn't a big fan of Fiedler, it's just too tiny.  The CIS department had labs and stuff but it was still in Nichols and it wasn't the best.  I really like Hale so if I ever did go study away from my apartment it was there.

Serious question; has the internet had an effect on the functionality of a central camps library in the quest for sources/information? Do people still use "the stacks" for functional educational purposes?

I would say it's had a big impact.  I think I've checked out like 2-3 things ever from the library.  Mainly because it was something a professor put there for an assignment.

They have had a ton of digital copies of books and research database subscriptions.  That's mainly what I used for sources.

I think the stacks are just there for nostalgic purposes now

I think I was in Hale once, maybe twice in 5 years.    And that was to use ILL.

This makes me feel a little better about the library not being 24 hours

how did people study without 24/7 library access before 2006?  I can't imagine not being able to hit the stacks at 4:15 a.m.

75% of those surveyed favor a parking garage and 80% favor increased pedestrian amenities.  Landscaping/streetscape among the top needed improvements in AV.

not surprising.  interested to see if anything comes of it.
