i sure hope that those airport user forecasts increase substantially (LOL) to offset these higher costs! (LOL).  of course, since it's delayed, that's just another year of zero revenue to bring in to help offset the construction costs.

adding four gates costs $300m and delays the project by a year?

That they have no idea wtf they're doing is the embarrassing part and then going way over budget and pushing back the date. Just that.

What they are saying is.....Adding gates....planning for a bigger expansion footprint...adding square footage....labor union problem.....delays by city council with their ridiculous CBA demands...and FAA delays (which I lay onto Edgmoor personally, I think their inexperience with airports caused that )

Cost is probably also due to rising interest rates and rising costs of raw materials thanks to tarriffs.

Id rather see them get the price right vs. nickle and dime this airport....but it's pretty frustrating and annoying.

no one did the proper due diligence in the first place when costing this out.  we’re not seeing the price go up either and yes we will get nickel and dimed

what was the reason given when selecting edgemoor? cost management?

the real winner is you and slyin james.  as evidenced by your last post where you lay blame at absolutely everyone within 500 miles of city hall.  except slyin james.  dude is going to retire from the majors with a 1.0 batting average.  that has got to feel good for slyin hams.

so will we see the already inflated user forecasts cranked up higher to balance the business case and offset additional third of a billion?  time will tell, folks, but all options are on the table and don’t expect the truth, kcmo residents don’t deserve it.

This goes beyond KCMO who deserves the truth.

You'll see higher parking fees and concessions and a buck more on your ticket.

Not sure how much more you want me to blame sly.....he's on the council that pushed for this CBA that was the cause of 2 month delay......

But we should all get really worked up that a bigger airport costs more than the $980MM estimated in 2015 dollars....obviously nothing has changed since then.

oh so despite it costing 1/3 billion dollars more, the economic impact is the same.  makes sense to me

I'd assume. I'd be suspect if they said the economic impact would increase....it's insanity.

Costs go up....should have started quicker....

well, all that i have to say to that is

Maybe soon you'll figure out how financing works.

the whole reason we were dealing with inflated user forecasts in the beginning is because they wanted to show a minimal impact to airport users (more users = less per user impact) and i don't want to debate whether or not the forecasts were inflated but you should remember a lot of people, including jolie (and myself in this thread), questioning those numbers.

the math is really simple.   build costs go up, the per user cost goes up.  build time increases, the per user cost goes up.

You actually poo poo'd the user estimates that the airport has been beating for years....but I don't disagree with the math....nobody has.

I was told yesterday that they agreed to make it the most ADA compliant airport in the world.  Not sure if that was in the news or not.  If it was not, my source is A+.  I also have no idea how they measure that.

i can see it now.
the brain trust downtown sitting in a dimly lit and smokey conference room in the basement of city hall, it's late- maybe 2 am when all of the sudden it hit them.  "ada", "let's make this bitch the most ada complaint airport in the world, damn the cost and schedule"
