It's weird that in a year ESPN slobbered over Young that the league had such an absence of star power that a mediocre talent like Graham was POV.

Also that third team is wack, they should mandate that there's either three or four guards on each team. They should have a ballot with blanks that says
G
G
G
G/F
F

Why? What's wrong just giving it to the best 15 players?

Because it's supposedly a "team," that's the construct. If you had a lineup of that third team, while talented as hell, they'd get run. College basketball is the only team sports entity that names an all_____team and doesn't make it position specific. All-NBA is position specific. When I played high school basketball those were position specific as well, maybe that's changed.

Yeah I guess I don't think it matters for college. It isn't like they're getting a bonus like they would in the NBA.

Its not position specific for the Centennial League. They even had 6 players on both the first and second team last year.

i don't think they should pick 15 guards and wings, but as long as they have roughly proportional numbers of guards and bigs, i don't think it matters if they load one group or another into 1st, 2nd or 3rd teams.

Call me a Homer if you want, but I legit cannot believe Sags is only a 3rd team guy. Yeah, he made All-Defense, but he affects the whole game when he's on the floor.

Who on the first two teams would you replace for him?

Also I didn't realize Alex Robinson didn't even get honorable mention, he definitely should have been on the third team in lieu of the 16 bigs on that team.

I think it's partially the convo you all are already having with all the guards on 1st Team. 2nd team would be believable, I guess, as the bigs ahead of him have definitely done more offensively. Just striking to see him stuck down on the 3rd team with what I witnessed him do so often this year.

didn't know where exactly to put this, but i found the current kenpom PoY standings interesting, based on his own description of the kpoy.

Quote
It’s also important that the player is contributing to some sort of team success. This where the more subjective part comes into play, and I have thrown in a dash of team strength based on my ratings. OK, more than a dash. We don’t want Vlad Moldoveanu winning this thing! There’s enough team influence such that it’s hard to win the award if your team is not in the top ten and nearly impossible if it’s not in the top 20.

current standings:

Quote
   Player   kPOY Rating
1    Trae Young, Oklahoma #47
6-2 · 180 · Fr · Norman, OK   1.492

2    Marvin Bagley, Duke #3
6-11 · 234 · Fr · Phoenix, AZ   1.446

3    Jock Landale, Saint Mary's #28
6-11 · 255 · Sr · East Malvern, Australia   1.442

4    Jalen Brunson, Villanova #1
6-2 · 190 · Jr · Lincolnshire, IL   1.389

5    Deandre Ayton, Arizona #21
7-1 · 260 · Fr · Nassau, Bahamas   1.358

6    Keita Bates-Diop, Ohio St. #15
6-7 · 235 · Jr · Normal, IL   1.331

7    Mikal Bridges, Villanova #2
6-7 · 210 · Jr · Malvern, PA   1.304

8    Ethan Happ, Wisconsin #74
6-10 · 235 · Jr · Milan, IL   1.266

9    Luke Maye, North Carolina #7
6-8 · 240 · Jr · Huntersville, NC   1.231

10    Carsen Edwards, Purdue #5
6-1 · 200 · So · Atascocita, TX   1.210

either k pom tweaked the formula or Trae is even better than i thought

Sags, 2nd team. Too impactful for the third team. I'd move any of the three guards off the 2nd team and onto the 3rd team.
