Weber recalled a conversation with McGruder two years ago in which he broke down what it would take for the former Wildcat to reach the NBA. McGruder took the advice and ran with it.
“I said, ‘Rod, if this is really your dream, you got to find a niche, you got to get your 3-point percentage up and everything’s got to continue to get better.’ He’s made that commitment,” Weber said. “I just couldn’t be more thrilled for him. There’s no more deserving guy. I hope it’s a great story and he has success in in the NBA and gets to play for a while because he’s the kind of guy that deserves it and you’re happy for. He would be a great representative of K-State and what NBA players should be about.”

I feel selfish holding all of oscar's NBA prep wisdom to just KSU'ers. I feel like it would be much more beneficial to the youth of America if he was out there doing that for a living and effecting as many kids as he could, rather then holed up here.
oscar needs to move on for the betterment of basketball everywhere.
-
"hey Rodney. if you really want to do this whole nba thing, you need to get better at basketball. you're welcome."-oscar

If any of you people have other career/life dreams, you can post them here and I'll try to track down #oscar to address them.

This sounds like when barney told marshall in HIMYM that he needed to have a niche at work.. Like fantasy football guy or something like that.. Pretty sound advice oscar.
-
Was this said before or after Oscar attempted to destroy Rodney's dream of playing in the league by offering him an assistant coaching position?
-
There needs to be somebody on that staff that can coach :ksu:
-
Practice has started. Any tidbits from Friday's first workout? Did oscar show up, or was he out recruiting?

I am so happy Rodney got a better haircut.
-
Coach Weber also recalled a similar conversation he had with Deron Williams at Illinois when he told him that if he got super good at dribbling, shooting and passing he would have a shot at the nba.
-
Also I've been trying for years to break 80 in a round of golf. Trim if you could get some advice for me from oscar I would appreciate it.

I'll holler at him.

It's always an honor to get called in for advice from a great K-Stater like _23 but I always say that the biggest thing is if breaking 80 is really your dream is you've got to really improve at an area of the game the putting the pitching the driving you've got to have a niche and you really get good at that part of the game and then you've got to get everything else better too like Coach Snyder tells the football team get a little better each month and then you've got the scoring officials and they might try to penalize you a stroke and I didn't see what they saw but you can't make excuses and you just have to overcome all that and scheduling one of the biggest things is scheduling your rounds at the right times.

The Yogi Ferrell selection over our guy Rodney is very WTF. He was released by Brooklyn and then racked up stats on a Dallas team that was tanking.

Everything I've read just makes me hate oscar even more. Gene needs to sack up, can oscar and make his own legacy by getting rid of Currie's failures.
-
Hot take.

This article describes how Oscar helped McGruder become better than under Frank. Weber can coach especially older players. His weakness is recruiting and growing young players.

Yeah that's his weakness

Odd, because his stats were better as a junior and he and JO worked out at South Carolina to prepare for NBA camp.
