GoPowercat has been terrible, just terrible.  Almost entirely filled with old-person ramblings about two day old newspaper reports.

Meanwhile, we have a rough ridin' fleet of twitter and news updates as every event evolves....and it's completely free.

Steve Dave and Rick Daris have really taken the lead on this, along with several others.  Bravo fellas, this site has been amazing.

New ku chancellor looks like she's not one to mess with. Sweet Lew may have screwed the pooch on this one. She looks like the type that could very easily ask Lew for his resignation or just go ahead and fire him.

In addition to this weekend's trip to Auburn, Frazier is in the process of scheduling visits to LSU, Notre Dame, UCLA, Miami and K-State

Daniel Sams informed us in his Rivals video interview that LHC Bill Snyder made him a deal that if Daniel didn't visit any other schools, then Bill wouldn't recruit any other quarterbacks in the class.  We have already discussed the notion that Pease (Juco athlete "QB) is apparently an exception to this rule.  However, the apparent visit of an "elite" QB recruit certainly leaves out the possibility that the recruit might be moved to another position, as with Pease.

So, clearly Daniel Sam's must have taken another visit, right? :dunno:  I mean, I read dozens of posts on the Wabash the last time this topic was brought up, and they all assured us that Bill would be above reproach on this.  What gives?

Kansas State Football / Family Reunion Pak - Part 2
« on: May 11, 2010, 11:51:22 AM »
The odds that I make it past half time of this year's family reunion just went up!   :pbj:  :katpak:

Quote
The second annual K-State Family Reunion will be among the nation's most showcased contests on September 4 as the Wildcats' 2010 season opener against UCLA will be broadcast by ABC Sports, beginning at 2:30 p.m., K-State and Big 12 officials announced Tuesday.

LHC Bill Snyder will lead Kansas State into the 2010 opener on ABC.
"We have a tremendous opportunity on September 4 to showcase our University and football program to the nation," athletics director John Currie said. "Our fans responded with over 50,000 last year for the Family Reunion and we need LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium to be packed with purple when we kick off against the Bruins."

The contest will mark the first time since the Texas Tech game on October 4, 2008, that K-State has appeared on ABC, while the last time the Wildcats have opened the season on the network was August 31, 1996, against Texas Tech in the inaugural game of the Big 12 Conference.

K-State's game against UCLA will be the 36th appearance all-time on the network and will also mark the 16th time in the last 17 years that at least one Wildcat football game will air on ABC.

Two of K-State's six home games this season have now already been selected for television as the UCLA game joins the ESPN nationally-televised contest against Nebraska on Thursday, October 7.

All North End Zone season tickets for the 2010 season have been sold out, but great seats in other areas of the stadium remain on sale and can be purchased online at k-statesports.com or by calling 1-800-221-CATS.

Single-game tickets for the Wildcats' six home games will go on sale June 14, while a four-pack of tickets to the UCLA game can be purchased for $99 from June 14-30. Also, K-State Alumni Association members can package UCLA and Texas tickets for only $120 if ordered between June 1-11.

....try and name one thing about the "other side" that you respect.  And don't give me any juvenile bullshit about this....we all know that  having merely two parties is WAY too big of a tent to not include something on the other side that you can stomach, let alone actually appreciate.

I'll go first.

I appreciate the idea of a strong military that can act as a deterrent to war.  Particularly a mobile military with Aircraft carrier fleets.

I appreciate spending money on our business infra-structure.  Roads, rail, maritime shipping, commercial rule of law....GOP typically leads on this.

I appreciate the right to own hunting armaments.  I also appreciate stewardship of wild game hunting by managing populations through hunting and the preservation of the environments that game live in (Ducks Unlimited, Wild Turkey Federation, etc.).  I don't personally kill anything I don't enjoy eating, but I'm never going to prevent others from responsibly doing so.

Dear KU fans, alumni, students, faculty, administrators, and athletic staff,

We at goEMAW are spearheading an awareness initiative throughout the state of Kansas over the coming weeks and months.

Our goal is to ensure the long term (READ: Forever) conference synchronization of the Kansas State University and the University of Kansas.
Maintaining the alignment of our two top Kansas institutions in a single conference helps to ensure the most effective use of our collective state resources.  That's why we are leading a grass roots movement to inform all Kansas legislative personnel, at all levels, about the necessity of legislatively mandating that KSU and KU forever remain in the same conference.

Obviously, we understand that the consequence of this initiative is that both institutions are relegated to "mid major" status.
We are aware that there may be some opposition to such a notion, particularly amongst certain small, but vocal, "fans" of the University of Kansas.  Much of the KU fanbase is made up of a non-voting, uneducated populous that is unaware of the primary academic missions of our two flag-ship universities.  However, we are certain that when the great weight of the VOTING Kansan voices demand their legislators ensure the conference synchronization of KU and KSU, they'll hear our message loud and clear.

Keep KU and KSU together, or fail to be re-elected.

We have already enjoyed tremendous support from soon-to-be Governor Sam Brownback (KSU alumnus), and the senior Senator from Kansas, Pat Roberts (KSU alumnus). We implore each of you to join our initiative and tell your legislators to "Keep KU and KSU together."  We may both be mid majors, but we'll be together, and that's what matters most.

He says that SEC teams wanted him as a DB, but he wants to play QB.

He's big, and looks the part.

He said that KSU made a "deal" with him that if he wouldn't take any more visits, then we wouldn't recruit any other QB's in his class.  He says his commitment is 100% to us.  He also talked about how he "asked himself" why Snyder would unretire and come back to the same school....that there must be "something special" here.

Guys.....CONFIDENCE IS RISING (sd's catchy new theme for 2010 and beyond).

Essentially Flyertalk / Mistakes were made
« on: April 16, 2010, 12:58:07 PM »
Look, a lot of things were said yesterday.  Things that not all of us are proud of.  Mistakes were made, lines were crossed.

So, I guess you can go ahead and consider this an apology or whatever if you want.  I mean, that would be agreeable to me if you were to do that.

I have hired a handy man in Manhattan, and he should be over at Ching's house to fix the front door later today.  Additionally, J-von gave me the name of his new turf guy, and I'll call him later about options for repairing Ching's front lawn....should that be cost prohibitive, Daris and I will just replant it.

So, I'd like to also ask that I be un-banned.  I have a rent payment coming up and need my income from moderating in order to get that taken care of without any issue.

Thanks in advance,

Pete

Less than two weeks after the University of Kansas announced an independent review of its ticket office and the Williams Educational Fund, top official Ben Kirtland resigned on Monday.

Kirtland was the associate athletic director for development and the head of fundraising for Kansas Athletics Inc. He was the highest-ranking official working with the Williams Fund, the athletic department’s fundraising arm, and will be replaced in the interim by Sean Lester, KU’s associate athletics director for internal relations.

Kirtland previously worked under athletic director Perkins at Connecticut, where he also played and coached ice hockey, and was hired by Kansas in July 2004 to help the Williams Fund implement a points system similar to the one used at UConn.

Thanks to other message boarders poster intimidating each other mercilessly, word is that Klein is our leader at QB.

I think we can all take this as good news...relative to the available types of news at QB for us this year.

Honestly, I could really see Klein not sucking.  Like perhaps the level of your typical Big 12 backup quarterback....which is EXACTLY what we got last year.  Same QB play as last year gets us 6 wins, IMO.
