Tomorrow I’ll be going through the office trying to record each of us singing part of the song “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” to do a mashup similar to this for our annual holiday card.  Obviously, it won’t be nearly as funny as Captain Piccard, but I think it will be more entertaining and personal than just a fancy photo of the garland, ribbon, and lights in my house (which was last year’s card, although I did receive several compliments on the pretty picture).  AND I’m envisioning this being a representation of (company name)’s “fun” side so feel free to bring out your Christmas sweaters and ham it up.

People are not happy.  The admin people already put on a real shitty Christmas party (sing along at Alamo Drafthouse), and now this.  We are engineers, not the cast of Glee.

What kind of company sends out a Christmas card with a picture of some crap a random lady that works there had in her house?  Also, pull your balls out of your zipper hole to really up your ham factor.  #lifehack

I should mention, the HR lady is the owner's niece, so nobody calls her out on these types of things.

Is it just me, or does the darker stained wood look much better this year?  Is it the new lighting, or did they re-finish the floor when they put on the new Big 12 logos?

Good day everyone. I have a question - I am a Uverse customer and use the crap out of my wireless receivers. This Saturday I'm having people over at my mansion to watch sports. Right now I can get 2 receivers in my basement but want a 3rd for the day. Can I use someone else's wireless box? Are they synced with the account by S/N or MAC address or some crap?

I tried using my wireless box at a friend's house a couple weekends ago and could not get it to work.  Even tired connecting it to the network with Cat5 without success.

I'm probably missing an entire Vegas eatery thread somewhere, but I'm headed there for a conference next week.  I haven't been there in five years, so a lot's probably changed since I've been last.

Any specific restaurant that I should hit up?  Probably won't do too much boozing and the like since I'll be there for work and on my own, so there's that.

Will you have a car, or will you be mainly confined to the strip?

Hit up some national parks.  Zion, Bryce, Death Valley, and Grand Canyon are all pretty close.

As expected, the price of health coverage increased this year but less than anticipated and much less than some of the 30-50% increases that some companies are seeing.  The increase is approximately 6 percent and the company will absorb this cost for employee coverage.

There is a guy at my office that will brush his teeth while taking a piss.  I'm fine with people brushing their teeth in there, but multi-tasking crosses the line.

When she moved to Vegas, she didn't pay for her share of the moving truck.  Screwed over 3 EMAWs on the deal.

I've never had seats at the top of the east side.  (typically in the club spaces sipping liquor).  But, wouldn't it appear that those lights are kinda low?  especially in comparison to the old lights.  There can't be but maybe 10ft of clearance between the people and the lights.  Doesn't seem like much space, considering how much brighter they're supposed to be.

One of the main reasons the new lighting will be so much "brighter" is that the sports lighters will be so much closer to the field.

Why does it look like Obama is moving furniture?  Surly he can call in a couple Marines to do that kind of physical labor?

I'm thankful for my German Russian Great Grandparents who came to this country WITHOUT welfare... And worked in the bean and beet fields everyday... Refugees get welfare automatically. Neat.

Some of my ancestors almost starved to death their first winter in America. They did not ask for a handout but were resourceful and survived. They passed that work ethic down from generation to generation and I am grateful. Being rewarded by the government for laziness is sickening and steals from those who truly need assistance.

That's how my family came over here n they worked hard for what they had and was proud to be in america

Yep. My grandma used to crawl on her hands and knees... Weeding beets and beans. So did her six kids.. Who would find a half stick of juicy fruit at the end of a row... Kids.. Take note.

My great grandparents came from Germany and they LEARNED english right away, my mom said my great grandfather would not even let them speak german. They never expected anyone to learn their language.

Do you have something against giving refuge and $100k to people who then kill and maim Americans? Bigot!

I love [my daughter's] "stand up for justice" heart.. She just told me she yelled (probably scolded) at two kids in her class for not standing up for the pledge. "there are Americans fighting in Iraq! Some of their family are in this class!" Love the passion of a freshman girl who doesn't care what people think. Refreshing... Yeah, bragging. (Although some facts may be off on Iraq) ;)

Comments are good as well

Love it! My [son] is the same way. During CSAP testing he saw a flag stuffed away in the corner of the room. He stood up, made his way to the flag and put in in a prominent place of honor in the room. The teacher wasn't happy, but fortunately other teachers and the administration supported his actions for showing respect for the flag.

The lack of patriotism that heads our nation has trickled down. Bet they enjoy the freedoms that come with that flag they won't stand for.

Thai ramen

Packet of Ramen (Oriental or chili flavor works best)
can of tuna
egg
soy sauce
sriracha (or packets of Panda chili sauce)
chunky peanut butter
garlic chowder

Cook ramen in a pot with around 2 cups of water, bring to a boil and drop in scramble egg (kind of like you are making egg drop soup).   allow egg to cook, turn down heat and add the tuna.  Add garlic chowder, soy sauce, sriracha, and peanut putter to taste.

Option stuff to throw in if you have it:  green onions, cilantro, lime juice, bean sprouts, shredded carrots

Wow, good luck to whatever team you cheer for user _42.  :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

RE Montana not moving up without Montana State: that's sweet. I don't know anything about Montana State other than that it's where Jonathan Beasley got fat, but I always think it's weird when there's a state without a single D-1 football team. In a perfect world everyone would get at least a little little D-1 love.
 :frown:

It sucks that Montana isn't an FBS school.  Missoula is a fantastic little city, and it's a wonderful place to spend a long weekend.  It would be tremendous for roadies.
If they were FBS, it would be an awesome place for a 2-for-1 like we have set up with UTSA.  I really wish we would set one of those up with Wyoming sometime.  If not Wyoming, then AFA, CSU, or UNLV.

Would love a 2-for-1 with Wyoming; sister is an alum with season tickets.

jesus christ @ the first guy. there is no "Hibatchi" Hut and Texas Star isnt even there anymore. Rustys is not a staple unless your like in your 40s

Huh?  Did the hibachi hut close?  That was my favorite place in manhattan.

No, the Hibachi Hut is still there, but there is no such place as the "Hibatchi" Hut.  Last time I was in Manhattan it seemed like Hibachi Hut had taken over all the space where Texas Star was, but I think they still serve both menus at the Hibachi Hut.

Also, last time I was in town, Rusty's Last Chance was just "Last Chance" .

A lot of rumors that adding a tunnel would make the BTF legally an upgrade to Bramlage.  As such, Bramlage would be subject to the most current facility codes, which as it currently is would not be compliant.  A large portion of those costs would come from that, along with possible capacity reductions as well.

That doesn't pass the smell test to me.  Typically you can connect an expansion to an existing building, and not have to do much to the existing building, as long as the expansion is separated by a 3-hour fire rated wall.  The excessive cost probably has more due to having to dig up parts of the existing foundations of Bramlage and having do deal with any buried utility lines and/or dead hookers you find down there.

Under the new terms that are being negotiated, each of the ACC’s 14 schools can expect at least $14 million to $15 million a year, sources said, depending on how negotiations between the conference and ESPN conclude.

That would help the ACC close a fairly significant annual revenue gap with other major conferences. The Pac-12 and Big Ten each are distributing close to $21 million per school a year. The SEC’s deal provides $17 million per school, and the Big 12’s schools each average $15 million.

http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2012/02/06/Colleges/ACC-TV.aspx

I find it interesting that the ACC is only going to pull even money wise with where the Big 12 is currently after add  Pitt and Syracuse.  Maybe the rumors of Clemson & FSU being unhappy with the ACC have more merit than most people originally assumed.  Once the Big 12 has its new tier 1 deal in place, the ACC will likely be a distant #5 in terms of TV revenue.
