"I think the year we took the biggest dip was predicated more than anything else on a given position," Snyder says. "I wouldn't want to make that public, of course. But we probably made some coaching mistakes regarding how we used a certain position in our program."

Snyder is saying that his quarterbacks in 2004 and 2005 stunk. But he would never in a million years say that. Following the conference title and Ell Roberson's departure, the Wildcats returned all-world running back Darren Sproles, but the quarterback position was far from consistent. Snyder had a decent runner in Allen Webb and a decent passer in the late Dylan Meier, but he couldn't play them at the same time. KSU's average fell from 36.6 points per game to 29.6. In 2005, it fell to 26.3. And the once-impenetrable defense sprang leaks. Even the best coaches falter if they struggle at quarterback or if they have to replace too many ace assistants. Eventually you'll end up with a weak spot, or your new hire won't be as successful as the last one.

This. Their (our, heading there tomorrow to start back to school!  ) schedule includes the likes of Rhode Island, Old Dominion, and Western Kentucky. They could destroy their entire schedule and still shouldn't even be on the list.

But man, can you imagine the monumental butthurt of any of the big boys that dont make it if Marshall snuck in miraculously?!

Just saw this today. I also thought it was interesting that he said he felt they got burned by the general strategy of pursuing four/five star recruits.

Trotter: I think people will know the name Tyreek Hill after this weekend. The Oklahoma State running back is going to have a big year. Baylor defensive end Shawn Oakman doesn't seem to be talked about much nationally, but he could be a star. Some other names flying under the radar nationally: Texas Tech wide receivers Jakeem Grant and Reginald Davis, West Virginia cornerback Daryl Worley, Iowa State running back Aaron Wimberly, TCU cornerback Kevin White, Baylor receiver Corey Coleman and Kansas State's entire roster.
