Companies say the moves to redraw supply chains are aimed at saving many millions of dollars and that they are moving ahead even as they watch developments in Washington “very, very closely.” In a twist, however, the barbs from the White House have had an unintended effect, sending the value of the dollar rising sharply against the Mexican peso. The WSJ’s Justin Lahart writes that so far that has made factory work in Mexico an even better deal economically.
