I'm just happy we don't have to look at the mismatched lego set that used to be there anymore.  :Woot:

the lower bowl overhang will be somewhat fixed when the NE corner is completed in the next few years.

what I never understood, is why people want to spend so much money on a facade for the east side, cause it's dogshit. wait it out, spend a little more money to tear it down and build something that fits the theme (size/style) of our stadium better.

Does anyone know someone on the work site that could find out the what the bar marker says in the web or sometimes outside flange?

I work at Gerdau in Midlothian, TX. We are the flagship mill for Gerdau North America. I would love to know if I made those steel beams. I heard from some HR folks that steel we make was being used in a remodel of a Big 12 Stadium. But I wont be able to brag about it unless I know what the bar marker says.

It would say GER MID every 3 or 4 feet.

Did you know Kansas State's first mascot was a black lab?

I don't like master threads as much as others. I mean, they have there purpose. But, so do new threads.

Ran something by my top secret source, he said the beams had already been fireproofed and thus coated and there'd be no way to read them at this point but that they were from LeJuene Steel out of Minneapolis, MN.  Sorry BL :-(

The new engineering wing has been fully fireproofed, maybe you got confused. Understandable with so many projects to keep track of

He might have been talking about the engineering wing (i explicitly asked about the stadium, but there might have been some lost in translation action) since thats where hes more familiar.  I can check to make sure, but the same company is doing both and i'd imagine they might be sourcing from the same place.

I'll follow up to make sure (but you should just tell people they are from TX, either way)

Not fire proofed.  Also wish we were using in-state fabricators (don't care about the mill).  Cost is nearly the same, and Kansas needs jobs right now.

No

You still have to protect it from the fire or structurally it'll be compromised (the reason for heat shielding on space craft for example is that the steel/titanium can't handle the heat, it doesn't necessarily burn as it more rapidly melts into molten shards of death) and as for water, I got a lump of sodium I'd like you to throw in tuttle creek, if you're adventurous enough do it close enough so you can see the flame before the boom.

That steel is definitely not fireproofed. Typically they don't even begin that process until all the steel up and they have deck on top. It's easier to spray from the bottom when you essentially have a backstop. Usually, the deck gets spray fireproofed on the underside as well but it appears that this job isn't requiring that. Then, they'll spray the columns and everything left once the building is semi-enclosed.

Oh man.  Maybe it's Jack Trice?  Is steel rust proof?

space craft need to be fireproofed?  really i think now i've heard it all.
let me point out a simple fact- there is no oxygen in space and all fire (terrestrial and extraterrestrial) requires oxygen *(O2) to exist.  so lets waste money on fireproofing the space ship prior to LHC Bill Snyder blasting off to go visit a recruit on mars.
