true story- during the big 12 tournament, bowlsby was on the plaza and walked by me and into "pinstripes" which is an old balls men's store as i was walking to the falloon. bob was rolling solo, as was i. he was sporting a grey suit with a red big 12 lapel on.

They definitely want and probably should get out of the valley, the A-10 makes more sense but they cry about the travel all while crying about getting left out of the Big East.

Great read. Its amazing that it took this long for anyone in the media to discuss expanding the playoff as opposed to expanding the conference.

I'm not unique, but that's what I've been saying forever. And frankly, it will happen if there are more than 4 major conferences. It probably would happen even if the Big 12 goes away and there are 4.

But if the Big 12 would hold out until then, we'd be in a posh position because every major league champ will get in. Our second place team will most likely have 2 or less losses. So we'll have 1 auto qualifier (with money split b/w fewer teams) with a good shot at getting a second team in.

To me, I can't believe the leaders of this conference can't see that. Do they really think the playoffs stay at 4 forever?

I agree. It makes no sense to have five power conferences and four playoff spots. Five P5 champs, plus the highest ranked from the G5, plus two at large would be the best format imo.

I thought the playoff was purposefully exclusive to the benefit of the regular season.

Conference champions would make the regular season that much more enticing. Until you're ruled out of winning your conference, you're still in the running for winning the whole shebang. That's probably at least 1/3 of the power 5 teams going intot he final 2-3 weeks of the season.

The way it is now, teams like K-State would be lucky to get in with 1 loss to anyone vs 2003 when KSU woudl have been an auto-bid w/ 3 losses. The regular season would be better and games would mean more.

I like the 4 game playoff, it will go to 8 with automatic qualifiers. As long as the B12 can keep P5 status then we should stay at 10, or hold on until the SEC or big 10 start poaching ACC Teams and then we can grab two of those leftovers maybe.

OU Board of Regents Chair and another regent (Clay Bennett, Thunder owner) are trying to halt Big12 expansion. The 7 member Board of Regents are having a meeting Thursday to discuss/set the board's stance to give to Boren.

Worth noting the chair a Broadway producer that pissed everyone off a few years ago when he got the band director fired, then pushed in his own guy to "show tunes" up their pregame, on field band music. The rehearsals leaked, the new music never got played at a game, and that band director was quickly run off.

Good. Glad to see OU president, and known dumbass, has resistance from within. I think adding 2 G5 schools will ultimately bring the demise of the conference. Hold tight until either a school leaves the ACC and they become weakened or just stand pat until playoffs expand.

I still don't understand OU's problem. I mean, they made the final four and the playoffs (with a loss). What does another conference offer that the Big 12 doesn't? Future money? Maybe/probably. But why not wait? They will never be "left out", no reason to panic.
