Watched Mad Dogs pilot on Amazon.  feels raw still.  It was ok while watching it, but several days later I am still thinking about it.  I think it could be good.  Hope it gets picked up.

Anyone watched Cocked yet?  Heard a podcast with Jason Lee and they only discussed the amazon process but not really any of the premise of the show.

Just wanted to report that the dialogue in Deadwood is really something to behold. The use of iambic pentameter and solilloquy spoken by many of the shows characters is very fun. William Sanderson's portrayal of E.B. Farnum is perhaps my favorite.

Lib^7 is correct. Al Swearengen is pure entertainment as well. It's funny how both Al and Cy Tolliver are, for the most part, completely evil men, but whereas Al's wit and periodic lapses into good nature or nobility render him almost likeable as a "person," Tolliver is just so hard not to hate with a passion. He is the embodiment of evil. It's almost as if he's supposed to be a manifestation of Satan himself.

Another thing that I found amusing is that Garret Dillahunt, who was seemingly in everything put to a screen for a number of years plays two different characters of completely different persuasions over the course of the show. His second role as Francis Wolcott, while vile is certainly entertaining and amusing.

I'm not big on the Sheriff though.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Everything you said is right except for the part about the sheriff.

This is good criticism.

I guess he's a good character. He just rubs me the wrong way. He's so noble and mostly virtuous by the book, but he just comes off extremely boring and not enjoyable. He's basically the opposite of Al.

There are more than enough great and enjoyable characters to go around though. I didn't even mention the Doc, Charlie Utter, Miss Isringhausen, Tom Utter, Dan in some ways, Jane and of course Wild Bill, who we only got to see in full bloom a couple of times.

It just now occurred to me that, including and maybe because of Cy Tolliver, there is really no interesting characters (other than Wolcott), centered around the Bella Union. They are nearly all boring or just plain contemptible.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I watched the first two episodes of the first season of Black Sails tonight.  I liked it.  Pirate stuff is kinda interesting.  I an a sucker for historical pieces.

I will watch the rest.
