It's just very disappointing Phil, you've had decent KC takes over the years.

I'm not following which part disappointed you???

They are not helping themselves.  I bet the chiefs are considering ditching them if this fails

today is the best news day since they decided to go to Crossroads.

I think it's easier to call with clarity in the new rule.  Of course it'll be somewhat a PITA as with most penalties and require a lot of judgement, but it's wrapping a player up and then dropping their weight on the opponent's legs.

If it's truly just this specific situation it maybe a good rule. I hadn't read up on what the rule was just almost anybody I follow with a football background was going insane upset about it so I assumed it was way broader definition of a wrapup and then dropping your own weight anywhere to bring the person down.

That Baltimore bridge collapse is nightmare fuel.

Ninfa's is for honkeys

I didn't want to say it but they were blaring 98.9 and felt like only a bunch of white people in there working. I was led astray.

It's basically illegal to tackle Travis Kelce now in the NFL

not a fan of the rule change but maybe I'm okay it given this thought!

Went to Ninfa's for some Mex-breakfast today and was pretty disappointed. Pretty bland stuff. Great 'tillas though.

Mexican places are notoriously chincy with the salt.  Chile and lime is their seasoning

It wasn't that. The place just didn't have the soul in the food I was looking for. It was pretty pud and I had heard a lot of good stuff about it. Heck they didn't even bring limes until asked. Looked it maybe it used to be a good place that got popular with the tortillas and now that's really their focus getting them out the door in bulk.

Had Meat Mitch when I was in KC last weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed the three meat+ribs plate I had.

It was good at KCI and I assume even better at the actual restaurant.

Bates City BBQ in Shawnee. What do we think? Do we like it?

Please only respond if you've tried it before.

I got it once and never went back. I don't remember it being bad but if I'm over "there" I'm usually Blind Box.

That Oregon/creighton game was wild. Like if someone told me that Oregon wouldn’t attempt a free throw until there was like a minute left in the game, and also only 2 guys would be responsible for all of their 2nd half points I would ask how badly did they get blown out?

I fell asleep, how did it compare to KSU / Xavier?

What are the absolute coolest things to do in Minneapolis?

Fine city. wish KC was more like it. I didn't find a single cool thing to do there but enjoy visiting and going to a Twins game so maybe that?

I don't think it's going to pass

It will pass. I give this iteration a 70% chance. If it doesn't they will be back and it will pass the 2nd time. People won't deny Patrick mahomes twice

The key to me was pulling it off the exchanges as they then own access to your assets. They shut down, you will be stuck fighting to get your crypto back. Airlocking it into my ledger keeps me in total control. I hadn't looked at "moving" wallets so I wasn't sure how that all worked.

As for my seed phrase, I keep two copies, one in a firebox and one locked away in my work office. I considered putting in my password manager (bitwarden if interested) but liked it only physically written on paper.

Did I miss that the Royals are moving but we're moving forward with the stadium?

What does the city gain from owning the baseball stadium? Do the Royals pay rent?

It's technically the county. Royals buy up land, hand it over to county, county builds building, royals sign lease to be in building.

I still wish it was in East Village, but even if this passes I think like everything that has ever happened to KC in the last decade plus I've been in it (thinking specifically street car and the airport) at first everyone hates it, and then once it's done everyone loves it, or can't believe we put up with the way it was before. KC is nothing but creatures of habit (and honestly more places are like that than not), and often just can't imagine it another way until it does happen.

this is not like the streetcar or the airport. the streetcar provides a service that did not exist and improves the downtown experience for people living, working, or visiting downtown. the new airport replaced an old one that was outdated, and improves the airport experience for people who live in kc or are visiting kc.

neither of those projects required the destruction of an already successful entity. if the royals get what they want yes of course "it will be fine" but we will have lost the crossroads as one of the few cool historic and walkable neighborhoods full of local businesses. it is inevitable that these will be lost to more surface lots / chains once the local businesses are priced out by the property owners looking to capitalize.

on top of that, as everyone knows this makes no fiscal sense. we are using public money to pay a billionaire to build a baseball stadium, losing the current revenue produced by the existing properties and businesses. the city will own the building (worthless for anything besides a professional baseball team), and the team will own the valuable real estate it sits on, but pay no property tax. this arrangement would be a lot more palatable if the stadium was going to exist in an undeveloped area (east village). the city would be getting something for that money. in other words, paying Sherman to build in EV is questionable. paying Sherman to build in the crossroads is indefensible.

this project feels a lot more like the 1950's construction of the highway ring around downtown than it does the streetcar or airport. there are only downsides, but we'll be able to say "downtown kansas city has a baseball stadium". i'm sure people that don't live or spend time downtown will love it.

Yeah the impacts on the XR is the biggest negative I'm scared shitless of. I've taken solace in other cities around their downtown baseball stadium hasn't really made that huge of a change in even the close surrounds. Even the storied Coors field, LoDo was already growing, and the other side of it is still pretty meh. I went to a delicious mexican dive that had been there for 75 years called Mexico City last time I was in Denver. It was spitting distance to the Coors Field front doors. https://maps.app.goo.gl/We7hdknoXUh6AgseA

mocat you have a sense of how the vote is gonna go down?

You didn't ask me but even with the chud Chiefs upgrade, the Chiefs will still carry this vote to victory. The Royals plan has plenty of faults and that comes from someone living downtown that has wanted downtown baseball forever. I'm still voting yes even though I'm worried about what impact this makes to the crossroads.

so why are you voting yes? Is it because you think they will leave if they don't get taxpayer money?

The unknown negatives I have of the stadium in this specific location is less than then downside of not having a downtown stadium. I don't have a lot of fear of them "leaving".

Yeah underwhelming at best. Sounds like they are gutting the place top to bottom to make it last 25 years and then they are done with it.

Friends of ours got completely mumped by travel agent last week in Mexico. Showed up and they didn’t even have hotel rooms they had pre-paid for. Had to find another hotel paid out of pocket and have now filed criminal and civil complaints. Got on the local news though!

Why anyone would use a travel agent is beyond me. Another layer of complication to my travel, just what I need.

I've only used a travel agent for cruises as they typically can get better rooms at same price but yeah no other time.
