All of our good players (Jamaal, Houston, Tamba, DJamer, etc) were here already. Dorsey's legacy is Fisher/Smith. Just awful.

Houston and to a lesser extent Jamaal were not being used as well as they are now, so Dorsey gets some credit.
Smith is the best QB we've had since Montana or maybe Green.
Dorsey took us to our best record in 10 years and a 9 game turnaround.

WHAT AN AWFUL LEGACY!

trent was leaps and bounds better than alex.

that turnaround is about to reverse itself in short order. the schedule was the reason for the turnaround. not dorsey.

lets all reconvene after going 5-11 this year and have a little chat.

Oh jfc. We had one of the best D's last year before the 2nd half and Alex was lights out in the 2nd half last year. With a shitty line, you need a mobile qb. We're all over the "woah, me!" Attitude here, boys!

this is a team with severe flaws. they have a very difficult schedule on top of that.

they are going to lose 10 or 11 games . i'm ready to watch it all play out and then come back and discuss after the season.

This forum should be renamed the cf3/j-dub whiny bitch forum.

WC he drafted Eric Fisher 1st overall and he's not good, like, even a tiny bit. And why are you using the laughing guy? Your post was not funny, it was lame.

"Best Chiefs QB since" is not really high praise. If he's the best since Trent, it means he's better than Cassel, Croyle, Thigpen, and Huard. Sure, Alex Smith is better than those dudes. Last season (Wild Card birth, 0-1) in the playoffs was a great improvement over 2-14, but to me a Wild Card loss gets you no equity. We'll see if they back it up this year with another 11 win season, or (more likely) if the 11 wins were an outlier in this regime's tenure.

QB options for the Chiefs in the last 2 years:

Johnny Manziel (would've required minor trade)
Geno Smith
Matt Schaub
Teddy Bridgewater
Derek Carr
Garoppolo
Savage
Mike Glennon
Josh Freeman
Michael Vick
Josh McCown
Terelle Pryor

Only Bridgewater or Manziel has a realistic chance to be good.  If you are already declaring Fisher a failure than Geno Smith is definitely one too.

No we won't win 11 this year, but that is on the OL/WR/DBs.  The biggest mistake this coaching staff has made was paying Bowe.

Carr has looked really good in the preseason. I'd wait before writing him off.

He has the whole Oakland Raiders organization thing holding him back - if he succeeds there, complete stud

Guys it's way to early to say anything about the Dorsey/Reid legacy. They've been in place barely a year now. Last year skewered the curve a little, but they're working with a roster that just two seasons ago only won 2 games and came with some pretty severe cap limitations. I'm like Pete, I don't like the deal, but I get it. 2-14 teams don't magically become Super Bowl contenders overnight and Alex Smith, unfortunately, probably gives the Chiefs the best chance of winning games right now of any QB that was available.

Hopefully in a few years they've seen enough of Bray or Murray to think either is ready to be starter, and if not, drafting someone who they think will. During that time they need to be reworking the roster and be satisfied with 6-9 win seasons. Then when Smith comes off the books use that cap space to put the final pieces in place to make a run.

I'm pretty sure I've said about the same thing before. I have no idea if this is their plan but if it is I'm completely fine with the moves they've made, if in a couple years (4 seasons isn't an unreasonable amount of time to give a new GM/coach combo) there appears to be no direction then it's time to question what they're doing. They've made a decent start though by drafting a lot of incredibly athletic players. Kelce, Ford, Gaines, even Fisher are all very athletic, if a little raw.

Sanity lies somewhere between CF3 and Wacky. The Chiefs need to address the QB position in the 1st round, but they need to do it with a guy they believe will be a stud. I don't think there has been any QB in the last two drafts that Reid and Dorsey feel like even has a chance of being a franchise QB. When that guy shows up though, they better be willing to make some sacrifices to get their man.

You should probably root for the Browns, they take any QB in the first round that is still breathing on draft day.

Anyone catch the border patrol segment were they compared Smith to each NFL qb in the league?  Very solid trolling attempt that almost got me when he ended up nearly top 5.

The name itself isn't really, but using arrowheads and tomahawks for everything is. Change the logo to a big fat guy smoking a cigar and it's not racist.

Maybe change the name to the Beefs with a fat guy smoking a cigar or something? I'm kind of partial to changing the name to the Kansas City Barbecue and having the team go by the Cues.
