Title: Celebrity Deaths (whenever)
Post by: Cartierfor3 on December 29, 2011, 10:30:25 AM
Who do you predict will die that we won't see coming?

What celebrity death would make you sad?

I predict Johnny Depp will die in 2012.

If Adam Carolla dies I will be very sad.

My 5 for 2012:

1. Hugo Chavez
2. John McCain
3. Pamela Anderson
4. Pope Ratzinger
5. Joe Paterno

McCain would make me most sad. I guess Pamela would be the unexpected one.

Um, all of the celebrities you listed are more likely to die in 2012 than live to 2013 with the possible exception of Bruno Mars

The only people I ever knew to do whip-its were hippies from Colorado who had smoked so much weed it no longer did anything for them. They'd huff those balloons until their faces were blue. They'd be mumped up for about 20 seconds, then do it again.

It truly is the crack of hippies.

From what I read since it was under appeal he will not be listed as "convicted" and the murdered dudes case all though closed will have no real conclusion.

Not only will he not be listed as "convicted" his actual conviction will be voided, which will no doubt have (positive) consequences for his estate and family's earnings on his story

Oh I've read that before. I don't know. Maybe it was his way of saying he was at peace and believed he had been forgiven. That his mortal life had been fulfilled with the court cases being closed and was ready to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Though suicide is a sin (in all christian sects?). Perhaps he had prayed on it and and felt the presence of God.

That's all the spaghetti I can throw against this wall.

ESPN sports reporters said there is a new twist that he was bi.  Questions about whether the original murder might have to do with outting him. They said he even had a lover in prison and included a note to him.

Tabloid bullshit. I don't think having a prison lover has anything to do with your sexuality. It's about love, affection, and feeding a primal urge to ejaculate.

Note quite what I said Sdk.  First one, then the other.  I agree what you do in prison isn't what most people will do on the outside, but this case seems to include more weird story lines then I first thought.

Born in 1942... We'll have to check with the judges but I believe he would also qualify for a free pass on being a total racist POS as well. I'm not saying he was a racist or anything but I just wanted to make sure I did my (garbage human being) discount double-check.

hey guys here's some fun trivia related to the passing of Doris Day:
The Billy Joel song "We Didn't Start the Fire" specifically mentions 57 different individuals. This does not include events involving a few individuals so for example "british beatlemania" does not include john paul george and ringo and "wheel of fortune" does not include pat or vannah, the 57 only includes individuals who were specifically mentioned in the song.

Anyway, of those 57, 18 were alive at the time of the release of the single in september of 1989 (2 died in 1989 but before the release of the single).

of those 18, 5 are still currently alive.

Queen Elizabeth II, Brigitte Bardot, Chubby Checker, Bob Dylan, and Bernie Goetz.

have a great day lrw2p

Roger Ebert happened to walk into a Chicago bar where John Prine was playing in 1970 before his first album came out and wrote a concert review:

Same. I read my coverage manual and there's no age minimum for a colonoscopy. They will cover it if my doctor orders it, in be calling Monday morning.

Your Dr. can do a PSA blood test and check for colon cancer.  We had those done at work with our annual health and wellness check up.  Good luck.

Yeah, he's an absolute stud.  I bet they had to add a little extra fuel to his planes just to haul his enormous balls.  I may have mentioned this in my review of The Right Stuff (the book, not the movie or NKOTB related), but Chuck Yeager is the reason that airline pilots used to and sort of still do speak in that slow drawl.  Chuck Yeager talked like that so they imitated him.

RIP, John le Carre. I really enjoyed his spy novels. The Spy Who Came in From the Cold was the best and the movie adaptation of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy got me hooked on the spy genre:

Mind blowing stat about Hank Aaron - if you take away all of his home runs he would still have over 3000 career hits, more than Wade Boggs even.  No idea on how many Miller Lites Hank could put away on a cross country flight though.

Is it just me or are people super weird about Kobe's death? I know he died early, but people are like super emotional over him. It's like they all blacked out about his past and think of him as a super god. I'm pretty respectful about the passing of people, but this one just seems odd to me.

In hindsight, I love Tiger (Kobe is no Tiger), but he was still a dirt human by the end of the day.

I don't care if you light up a bunch of strange as a single man. As a married man it's different. It's super selfish and as a family man, you're rough ridin' up other people's lives, just for your own selfish enjoyment. I never really proclaim moral high ground on things, but this is something i'm pretty passionate about. Go the Derek Jeter route if you have to.  :dunno:

I didn't realize Schottenheimer was 77.  Wow.

Alzheimer's is a bitch.  My grandma had it for like the last 15 years of her life.  She was strong as a bull, so her body didn't give up, but her mind was pretty much gone.

She used to love doing jigsaw puzzles at the nursing home.  Often, she would put a puzzle together, then take it back apart.  Then get pissed off and blame the people working there for taking apart her puzzle.

This will sound morbid, but I am actually a little concerned that this will be the case with my Mom.  She's very healthy physically, and quite tough.  If her mind goes completely, and her body lingers, it's going to force my Dad to lose every cent except for his house and one car, to pay for her care until she could be covered by government assistance in a nursing home.  We tried to convince them to do the paper divorce thing and split assets, but their savings aren't huge anyway so it probably would have been a wash.

It's the very worst disease in so many ways.  It steals a person before they are gone, and while it does it, it will financially cripple a family (at least it does in the USA).

My family has known this is coming for quite some time now, so I getting much more at peace about it, but it has been very difficult.

On the upside, this has made me change my entire outlook on retirement.  I no longer define "success" or "achievement" in retirement as being able to not work.  Instead, I'll be giving God some massive high-fives if I am mentally and physically capable of working when I am 70.  That would be a huge WIN in my book!

If you hope to be able to get government assistance on nursing home cost, then they will do a 5 year look back to see if you disposed of any assets or gave away anything that they can count that toward your ability to pay.  So, if they gave me any cash or property, it would count against them if one of them needs the assistance within 5 years.  However, it's kinda like bankruptcy, where you get to keep your house and one car.  So, my Dad will keep the house, and we'll have him get a new Toyota or something to last for a long time. At that point, I'll just help him out with what SS won't cover.

I'm really fortunate (blessed) to be in that position, all things considered.

If I understand it correctly, you can't use this loophole. However, I get most of my info second hand from what my Dad finds out, and that could itself not be the best info.  They don't have that many assets to worry about anyway.

They actually did the transfer 7 years prior to her being admitted to the nursing home.  My dad is a Vietnam vet so he was able to get VA assistance taking care of the house about 3 years ago which helped to delay putting her in. But truth is, she probably should have gone in a few years earlier.

I wasn't privy to how the finances went with my grandma.  My dad has 7 brothers and sisters, so I'm sure things got split up between all of them.  Still very expensive, I'm sure, but 2 of the kids are veterans, so maybe that helped.  Don't know.

LOS ANGELES—Porn purveyor Larry Flynt, who built Hustler magazine into an adult-entertainment empire while championing First Amendment rights, died Wednesday. He was 78.

I thought he had been dead for a long time.

I didn't realize he was married 4 times.  That's an awful lot for a guy who dedicated a sizable portion of his life to speaking out against gay marriage.

Rush has gotta be top 3-5 people most responsible for the division in our society today.  Both politically and socially.  If you will miss the likes of Rush, you are probably hugely insecure and needed to listen to someone who could load up your self confidence with false value in that at least you aren't some dumb liberal.

With the wide spread adoption of alternative facts and "my truth", I don't think that is viable.  if it was, I am all for it.

fairness doctrine is stupid

It was necessary at the time it was implemented. I can't imagine what the civil rights movement would have been if the majority, who controlled the entire media, weren't forced to present differentiating viewpoints. Of course now it's wholly unnecessary with the variety of sources and ways to acquire information.

Fun story I went to a wedding in Oakland and Shock G (aka Humpty Hump) showed up to the reception and sits at a piano and starts serenading the couple to tupac's "round and round" which I think he produced. Then the DJamer plays "Humpty Hump" and I was worried it might get awkward but nope! he loves the crap out of it and just has the time of his life on the dance floor .

Finley was married to actress Tawny Kitaen from 1997 to 2002. He filed for divorce three days after Kitaen was charged with committing domestic violence against him, having beaten him with a stiletto heel. They have two daughters, Wynter and Raine. Tawny Finley, in a declaration to the Orange County Superior Court, claimed Finley used steroids among other drugs. She also claimed he bragged about being able to circumvent MLB's testing policy.[3] When told of his wife's accusations, which also included heavy marijuana use and alcohol abuse, Finley replied: "I can't believe she left out the cross-dressing."[4]
As Finley took the mound for an April 2002 game against the Chicago White Sox at the then named Comiskey Park, the stadium's musical director, Joe Stephen, took a subtle dig at Finley's messy divorce, and played "Here I Go Again" by the band Whitesnake, referencing Kitaen's appearance in that band's videos and her previous marriage to the band's lead singer, David Coverdale. Stephen was later fired and the White Sox apologized.[5][6]

I keep thinking about who had a greater pop culture impact on me, Bobby Bowden or Markie Post and I don't think I can decide. I watched a lot of Florida State football under Bowden and more often than not, cheered against them, but man their games we're always entertaining.

I watched every single episode of Night Court and that might have been my second favorite tv show from my youth. Markie was also awesome in her limited appearances on Scrubs.

Man someone need to put Marsha Warfield and Richard Moll in a bubble, that cast is getting picked off in a pretty rapid fashion.

Pretty crazy story involving Johnson and Suge Knight after Johnson had played a caricature of Eazy-E in several early 90s music videos. Well, pretty typical for anyone familiar with Knight.

It's a combination of all of that. They are all on 'roids, they all take pain pills regularly, and they live a constant cycle of kicking the crap out of each other and then partying afterward, and then traveling to the next city to do it all over again.

43 after a FOUR year battle with colon cancer. My grandfather died in his 40s from colon cancer and my PCP says I (age 40) still don't need a colonoscopy until I'm 50. I'm going to just pay for one out of pocket this year.

Same. I read my coverage manual and there's no age minimum for a colonoscopy. They will cover it if my doctor orders it, in be calling Monday morning.
i had a colonoscopy today, my first one!  tremendous. and my first time under anesthesia, would highly recommend.
i will admit that i was a little nervous but wow, what a ride!  the day before drink was not great but honestly it was manageable.  not eating for a day and a half sucks but I went straight from the surgery center to minsky’s and already ate a medium minsky’s prime cut.

One time I drove myself to an endoscopy with anesthesia. I'd previously had one and thought it was NBD. You're supposed to have a driver. Drove myself to work afterward. The next day, I had absolutely zero memory of anything that happened. WTF was I thinking? Do not recommend.

Last year I had endoscopy & it was great. I had it at 9:00 & was out for an hour. My wife drove me home & I feel back asleep for 150 minutes. I woke up feeling the best I’d felt in years. I’ve wondered a few times how much it would cost to have an anesthesiologist shoot me up with that stuff once a month, then I remembered that’s how Michael Jackson died.

I’ve wondered a few times how much it would cost to have an anesthesiologist shoot me up with that stuff once a month, then I remembered that’s how Michael Jackson died.

Yea man I can see why he was tempted to abuse it, stuff is A+

lol ya i 100% wouldn’t have been able to drive afterwards, I was a little dizzy for awhile after
they made me register my driver with my paperwork when I got there and wouldn’t allow uber/lift

I figured.  That was exactly what you were like after Lib and I gave you a practice one.

That was wild but everything turned out fine, I guess?

One time I drove myself to an endoscopy with anesthesia. I'd previously had one and thought it was NBD. You're supposed to have a driver. Drove myself to work afterward. The next day, I had absolutely zero memory of anything that happened. WTF was I thinking? Do not recommend.

The surgery center I have been to, unfortunately 3 times in the last 2.5 years, requires someone with a drivers license to check in with and stay with the person going under anesthesia. My poor wife keeps having to miss work because I'm getting old.

Going to have to bump some Crosby Stills Nash & Young today.

Quote
If I Could Only Remember My Name is the debut solo album by American singer-songwriter David Crosby, released in February 1971 on Atlantic Records. The guest musicians on the album included Graham Nash, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and members of Jefferson Airplane, Santana, and the Grateful Dead. The ensemble was given the informal moniker of The Planet Earth Rock and Roll Orchestra.

Check out the song "Cowboy Movie" from that album.  Guitar is Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead) and bass is Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead).  They were all pals with Crosby and Nash, in particular and would just hang out at the same studio and get mumped up and make music.  Crosby and Nash also contributed a bit to two of the really good Dead albums Working Man's Dead and American Beauty.

After a couple of years of failing health Farm kitty/Lil Lil passed peacefully this evening in the burbs of KC. She was born in a barn outside of Colby Kansas, abandoned by her mother as the runt of the litter and nursed back to health by a kind cat rancher.

She lived 5 years on a diet of kibble and eggs and out lived all of her blood relatives who were eaten by coyotes, she brought joy to all around her. She is survived by her younger sister Tazee (another farm cat runt).
