Obama had the same in 2008 and did very little to nothing the first three years to change the status quo. I can't think of anything other than the stimulus. It's also worth pointing out the Republican party is just as mumped internally as it was yesterday. A few thousand union households changing their voting patterns doesn't heal the divide between establishment republicans and the tea party.

Yesterday, I would totally have agreed.  However, enough ppl voted for trump last night that Donald Trump is actually going to be the next president.  I mention this not to say that he is a R and will get his wants past an R congress, but because he is Donald rough ridin' Trump and won the presidency when I thought that there is no way the American electorate would be stupid enough to do such a thing. 

This is a new world.  I think we should all be a little more open minded to the possibility of stupid things happening.
