This needs to be a thing.  Think of the gripping storytelling!  The adversity, the schemes that would not scheme, the personnel changes: I'm tearing grooves in my armrest just thinking about it!

It would behoove the movers and shakers down at ESPN need to lock this down quick before the tech superstars at Netflicks make it into a 10 part documentary, imho.

Kansas State Football / Advocare
« on: December 29, 2016, 02:01:23 PM »
I'm not sure i even noticed who was sponsoring the bowl game prior to watching it last night.  When a commercial for Advocare came on i had a WTF moment, because i had no idea what they were advertising.

Apparently its some sort of pyramid scheme.  Did everyone know this?

We just won the pyramid scheme bowl.  Does the NCAA not screen bowl sponsorship?

This team is an NCAA tourny bid team.  They will get a bid.  They might not make i past the first round (see Maryland) but we'll still have oscar next year.

The worst hurt will be losing to Brad, Bob, and Lon.

With the rest of the Big 12 returning or restocking proven winner stud coaches who aren't socially award losers, theres no way Bruceketball sniffs anywhere close to a .500 season next year.   Therefore, we're guaranteed at this point a brand new coach, fresh off of running some other program into the dirt!   Mods, can we get a master thread to keep track of other programs currently going down in flames to get a good idea of the talent pool out there?

Its fair to say Jake Waters was not universally loved for his time under center by katsfans on this board.  But now his watch is ended and we're afforded the luxury of waxing nostalgic on a senior quarterback who broke Freemaw's passing record with 3,501 yards through the air in a single season.

Wish him well, won't you?

Essentially Flyertalk / Bar Trivia Master Thread
« on: June 19, 2014, 12:11:52 AM »
I've gleaned through my time here that there's not a dirth of trivia cat's frequenting these boards.  Myself, i've been using trivia night as an excuse for dollar tacos and cheap bears every Tuesday night.  My question is, what qualities would you look for in a bar trivia team?
If you had to build an elite trivia team, what bases would you cover?

Heres my short list.
Sciency
Sports Trivia
History
Pop Culture (Probably need a TV/Movies and a Music)

What would your elite commando team look like?

Not in the books, new content via the TV show!   :Woohoo:

Is there a rule to warging that he has to be a certain distance from the thing he's warging? It seems like kind of a ridiculously powerful skill without a lot of rules.
The book goes into some exposition (show only people, is bringing up back story glossed over by the show, in order to better explain current events allowed?) on the rules of warging, so to speak.  Some animals are harder to warg with than others, animals with an existing dominance/submission pecking order (wolves/dogs/people[simpletons]) are easier to warg and the more a person wargs with an animal the more connected they are and easier it is for the warg to control the animal.  There are times in the books that great distances separate the warg from its animal, but its always with an animal with whom the warg has an existing relationship.

So to answer your question, they can't take over a dragon on the other side of the narrow sea that they've never met and totally burn everything to the ground, just because..... or can they?   :runaway:

Anyone going to be  :bball: and  :emawkid: in Larryville tomorrow?   My buddy got us some student tickets to the game, they weren't bad with KU still being on winter break (T&Ps, sitting in the belly of the beast)

Essentially Flyertalk / Weatherpersons
« on: December 06, 2013, 05:51:39 PM »
How much to you hate your local weatherguy/gal this time of year?  Not because of the weather, but because of how much they ham up the weather forecast.  You'd think people routinely run up and punch this guy in the face then buy him a beer for how often he apologizes for weather with a giggle.  JFC

"It's COLD!! OMG! I'm sorry guys (haha, its not really my fault guise) I mean WOW! COLD!"   I was watching today and after the segment the guy asked the anchorwoman not to "give him the cold shoulder", because of the weather. Jesus, i want to watch the news, not hear about how you compensate for your useless position a few times per year.

Another thing, why is there even a special weather guy?  I guess theres a sports guy, but thats because sports people (Lets face it, we're a little off center for obsessing about sports) are weird.  But there aren't weather groupies, unless you count hillbillies that drive around begging the sky to pluck them from the earth every spring.  Couldn't the regular anchor just say "yeah, its gonna snow, anyways, important crap..."

Feel free to post your weather anchor favorites here.

Kansas State Football / Would it be enough?

I understand every good cat fan is always excited for a season of watching the cats on the grid iron, but i don't think i'm too far off my mark to say that theres a certain amount of anxiety associated with this season's trip through cardiac lane.

Coming off a season that culminated our hopes and dreams, we're comfortable with a bit of a rebuilding year (shitshow)  But i ask you, dear catsfans, what if this was a year sustained?

What if rather than a season of rationalizing expectations, this was a season to throw caution to the wind?

Could a win over a texas team give you the spark need yet to dream?

Dare you to dream, oh my brethren?

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Timeouts
« on: March 22, 2013, 06:20:46 PM »
i don't care how luked or topical this is, but Weber's timeouts have bothered me all season, it seems only fitting we go out on one.

It would be constructive to talk about how oscar might better manage timeouts, but i'm too drunk and angry for that to be a realistic course of discourse.

@ksu KU game, why burn the last timeout in a close game when you will obviously need it?

@OKST why call a TO at 10 sec left on the shot up by 2? Jesus let them play or figure something else out

What metircs does oscar need to know, in order to call a TO? i feel like his usage of time outs all season has been so garbage i don't even  :shakesfist:

Solid basketball fundamentals, terrible TOs not withstanding (today) when should a coach use a time out, besides stopping a run?

Kansas State Football / Next...

I'm at that inevitable stage of K-State optimism where i'm not sure what to do.  My need for all things wildcat cannot be satisfied.  I crawl BBS, Blogs, RSS, shitty AP articles trying to feed the beast but nothing but LHBS football can truly sate, and it comes but once a week.  How do you cope?
