"I hate when people start bashing coaches, especially HCBW. I though he did an exceptional job. Did he coach a perfect game today? No, but he sure did something at half. The comeback was incredible. Those on here who are critical of our 3 star recruits. How many 4 or 5 stars do we ever get. He, like Synder will recruit good players and make them better, even great. I liked Frank, but if I never read his name on here again, it will not break my heart, at least when trying to make comparisons between he and HCBW and how a game might have turned out had he still been coaching. WHO CARES at this point. I have heard it until I really want to puke. It is not relevant at this point. We have a really good coach who I believe will take us places. Let's back him and quit the juvenile banter on here. Yes, it is a board created to discuss and share ideas and opinions, but enough of the negativity. We are doing great things at K-State. I have never been prouder to be an alumni of K-State. EMAW."

Bardo-san mentioned that Weber failed at Illinois because he couldn't land the Chicago kids, but his last roster had quite a few of Chicago kids on the roster, highly ranked even, and they still fizzled. Look at this year's class for KSU...the one freshman that doesn't see the floor is a Chicago kid. My theory is that Chicago is overrated, and it would not hurt us to ditch that area and focus on Texas and other places.

I posted this on GPC, if anything for a change of pace to our #burnitdown mode. Illinois fans definitely welcome to comment.
Having followed Illinois basketball, I can add my opinion to this hot debate. In Weber's first year, the team started like the Cats this year (lost at UNC, at Providence). The Fire Weber bandwagon started up right after that. However, he was able to circle the wagons, changed the offense a bit (went to a high-low sets like Self had) and they finished the non-con well, then won the Big 10.
Do I think that'll happen this year? No, this year seems like it's a giant dumpster fire. But, he is surely capable of turning it around, definitely with the lack of good teams in the Big 12 this year.

Flashback to when Roy left KU. What if KU offered Self and Illinois matched the contract, thus keeping Self at Illinois? Weber would not have gone to Illinois at that time. What are the chances that oscar could have been hired by K-State after neckbrace? Did we delay the inevitable by 6 years?

I met oscar at the airport Wednesday on my way to Vegas ( btw) and greeted him. This is how I remember the conversation going:
Me: Oh hey Coach! Welcome to Kansas City!
oscar: Oh....hey
Me: I've followed you since your Illinois days, my brother went to school there..
oscar: Ohhhhhh..... ok (he was trembling at this point)
Me: Hey just wanted to wish you good luck on your trip, go get us some wins this!
oscar: Oh well, there are a lot of teams in Brazil...
It was absolutely the most awkward conversation I've had, and his thoughts are probably exactly the same as we post here on goEMAW. BTW, I did not see any of the Adorable Cats
